Show notes

In this joint episode of Talk of Champions/Under the Lights, Ben Garrett (Ole Miss Spirit/On3) catches up with Knox Kiffin, son of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, following the greatest moment of his football life to date.

Knox, a sophomore for Oxford (Mississippi) High School, replaced injured starting quarterback Drew Dean last Friday against Germantown. The Chargers trailed by two touchdowns. Knox brought them all the way back, including the game-winning two-point conversion, in a 43-42 win.

He also breaks down his recent recruiting visit to LSU, No. 8 Ole Miss at No. 13 Oklahoma and how his dad handles football advice at home.

The Rebels (6-1, 3-1 SEC) and Sooners (6-1, 2-1) kick off in Norman on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT on ABC. Knox will make the trip, but only after the Chargers hit the road themselves, only to Clinton.

Ole Miss game day has ‘some things cooking’ for final home stretch in Oxford Oct 23, 2025

Show notes

Ole Miss football wraps a two-week road trip at Oklahoma on Saturday.

The Rebels will spend most all of November in Oxford. They’ll host each of South Carolina, The Citadel and Florida the first three weeks before concluding the regular season at in-state rival Mississippi State for the Egg Bowl.

Ole Miss already features one of college football’s best game-day atmospheres — from tailgating in the Grove and the Walk of Champions, to fly-overs and in-game drone shows.

The school has ‘got some things cooking’ for the final run, according to Drew Ingraham, Ole Miss senior associate athletics director for external engagement. Ingraham joined Ole Miss Spirit contributor Brad Logan for a podcast on Thursday.

Plus, Ole Miss basketball is also set to open on November 3. The Rebels are entering their third season under head coach Chris Beard. They won 24 games a year ago and matched the program’s greatest single-season accomplishment by reaching the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Do Lane Kiffin rumors hurt recruiting? Oct 23, 2025

Show notes

The Ole Miss Spirit's Ben Garrett and Zach Berry went LIVE for your lunch break on Thursday to discuss all things Ole Miss recruiting, including transfer possibilities, late potential flips and much, much more.

A pair of 4-star in-state targets for the 2026 class, safety Bralan Womack and wide receiver Jase Mathews, are visiting LSU this weekend. Cornerback Braylon Edwards, a high school teammate of 4-star Ole Miss EDGE commit Landon Barnes, just de-committed from SMU. Plus, some early transfer targets have quickly emerged.

Put simply, there could be some real movement on the way on all recruiting fronts, as long as Lane Kiffin rumors don’t get in the way.

Lastly, No. 8 Ole Miss (6-1, 3-1 SEC) is at No. 13 Oklahoma (6-1, 2-1) on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT on ABC. Ben and Zach are each picking the Rebels in a tight one.

A decision’s coming for Lane Kiffin. But first, Oklahoma. Oct 22, 2025

Lane Kiffin will have a decision to make at some point.

Whatever he comes up with won’t be without Ole Miss doing all it can to keep him.

Ole Miss Spirit contributor Brad Logan caught up with Trey Wallace of Outkick and Ryan Green of 1010XL FM 92.5 this week for a deeper look into the Kiffin rumors, the ‘Silly Season’ ahead in college football and much, much more.

Ole Miss-Oklahoma a critical swing game for both the teams and their head coaches Oct 22, 2025

Show notes

Ben Garrett (Ole Miss Spirit/On3) and Brandon Drumm (OU Insider/On3) get real on Lane Kiffin and coaching carousel rumors — a seemingly annual occurrence at Ole Miss.

The Rebels are at Oklahoma on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT for a Top 15 matchup on ABC. Ole Miss is hoping to avoid another 2022-level letdown, especially amid more rumor mill distractions.

However, at the same time, the Rebels, administratively, are ready to battle all comers when it comes to keeping Kiffin in Oxford.

Ole Miss has proven a perfect fit for Kiffin and his family, while few, if any, programs have been more efficient and front-leading in the NIL space than the Rebels.

As far as actual game matters, Ole Miss, against the Sooners, will be tested by the toughest defense it’s faced so far. Ben and Brandon each give three reasons why Rebels and the Sooners come out with a win. The teams are in the second of six straight seasons playing one another.

Florida isn’t a better program than Ole Miss anymore Oct 21, 2025

Show notes

In this edition of Game Runs Deep, Sudu Upadhyay and Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit/On3 dive into the Lane Kiffin-to-Florida rumors. While neither thinks it’s going to happen, Kiffin, who’s in his sixth Ole Miss season, very well could leave for Florida. But the argument of ‘Florida is just the better program’ is an outdated way of looking at modern college football.

Nick Douglas stops by to preview his new book, Where Did Our Game Go: Inside College Football’s Billion-Dollar Transformation. The guys also preview Week 9, including Ole Miss’ second Top 15 road trip, this time to Oklahoma.

The Drive Home: After Georgia, is Ole Miss still a playoff team?

The Ole Miss Spirit’s Ben Garrett is joined LIVE by Brad Logan and Sudu Upadhyay following the No. 5-ranked Rebels’ 43-35 loss at No. 9 Georgia on Saturday.

Trinidad Chambliss and the Ole Miss offense pulled off a first against a Kirby Smart defense. However, Pete Golding’s Rebel defense was an absolute disaster as Ole Miss fell to 6-1 (3-1 SEC) on the season with a trip to Oklahoma up next.

Are the Rebels still a College Football Playoff contender? What about Lane Kiffin and an already-active coaching carousel? Billy Napier and Florida did defeat Mississippi State, after all. But what about LSU losing to Vanderbilt?

Bradley Sowell: Lane Kiffin to Florida ‘not happening’ Oct 17, 2025

Show notes

Former Ole Miss offensive lineman and eight-year NFL veteran Bradley Sowell made his weekly stop by the Ole Miss Spirit’s Talk of Champions podcast on Friday.

Sowell is feeling ‘less than 50 percent’ confident in the No. 5-ranked Rebels at No. 9 Georgia this weekend, even if he’s still picking the Lane Kiffin and Co.

Speaking of Kiffin, an already-unprecedented coaching carousel could add more high profile jobs after Week 8’s slate of games, specifically Florida and Mississippi State. Kiffin is inarguably one of, if not the top, coaching candidates around.

Sources tell the Ole Miss Spirit Kiffin’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, is angling to make Kiffin the highest-paid coach in college football. Penn State is already open. LSU could be a possibility. What about Steve Sarkisian at Texas?

Sowell doesn’t believe Kiffin, who’s in his sixth Ole Miss season, is going anywhere.
