Expect Ole Miss to make the Top 5 for Kamarion Franklin, Mississippi's top prospect May 01, 2023

Show notes

In this edition of Franchise Player, a site-crossover podcast of the Ole Miss Spirit (On3) and Inside the Rebels (247), Ben Garrett and David Johnson break down a busy weekend in Ole Miss sports, including a star-studded group of visitors for Lane Kiffin and football, the four Rebels selected in the NFL Draft and Mike Bianco and baseball finally winning a SEC series this season.

Now-former Rebel wide receiver Jonathan Mingo was taken in the second round by the Carolina Panthers — besting (No. 39 overall) the draft positions of AJ Brown and DK Metcalf, if you can believe it.

The same Jonathan Mingo that was once ranked by 247 as the No. 18 prospect not in the nation, BUT IN MISSISSIPPI, in the 2019 recruiting class.

Rapid Reaction: Ole Miss' Chris Beard just bagged the tallest player in college basketball Apr 27, 2023

Show notes

In this rapid-reaction Recruit Check, Ben Garrett and Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit deep-dive into Thursday’s news that Western Kentucky center Jamarion Sharp — the tallest player (7-foot-5) in college basketball — is transferring to Ole Miss for his final season of eligibility.

Sharp is the third transfer addition so far for Beard and staff in their debut Rebel off-season. Ole Miss has also committed Georgetown wing Brandon Murray and Arizona State point guard Austin Nunez.

Franchise Player: Who is Ole Miss football's next first-round NFL Draft pick? Apr 27, 2023

Their answers might surprise you.

Daytime Fireworks: It’s NFL Draft Eve and Ole Miss’ Zach Evans is being slept on Apr 26, 2023

Show notes

In this edition of Daytime Fireworks, Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit and David Brandt — who covers the NFL's Arizona Cardinals and much more for the Associated Press — set the stage for Ole Miss football in the seven-round 2023 NFL Draft, which opens with the first 31 selections Thursday night.

The Rebels have a host of potential draftees, headlined by wide receiver Jonathan Mingo — one of the draft’s fastest risers over the last few months.

But Zach and David believe one former Rebel, in particular, is being slept on by next-level evaluators.

‘A lot of dreams coming true right now’: Former Ole Miss punter Mac Brown put on a show in the XFL Apr 25, 2023

Show notes

In this edition of Talk of Champions, Ben Garrett is joined by former Ole Miss punter Mac Brown, who became a viral sensation with the XFL’s Orlando Guardians this season.

Brown signed with the Guardians three weeks into the XFL’s return season off a call from their head coach, Terrell Buckley, the former Ole Miss cornerbacks coach. Brown went on to complete a pair of big-gain fake-punt passes in back-to-back games to close out the year.

Both passes — including the latest, an 84-yarder on fourth-and-21 for a touchdown to former NFL tight end Jordan Thomas — went viral. Brown averaged 44.8 yards per punt this season, with a long of 60. Eight of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard-line.

He also led the XFL in yards per completion.

Morgan Wallen is Oxford soft + the latest intel on Ole Miss recruiting Apr 24, 2023

Show notes

Morgan Wallen should have just puked and rallied like any good Ole Miss person does.

Alas, the country music star who could only get through one of his two scheduled Oxford shows this weekend lost the party. Ole Miss could never.

The show must always go on. Go on it did for Rebel football and basketball recruiting, as Ben Garrett and Zach Berry discuss at length in all-new edition of Talk of Champions.

Hooks In: Ole Miss football lands portal WR + Buy or Sell? on new basketball targets and more Apr 21, 2023

In this edition of Talk of Champions, Ben Garrett and Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit discuss the recruiting land of Jackson State transfer wide receiver Shane Hooks for Lane Kiffin's football Rebels, as well as new portal targets for Chris Beard and Ole Miss men's basketball in a fresh round of Buy or Sell?

Brad and Chad: All three Ole Miss QBs have the look of starter Apr 20, 2023

Show notes

For former Ole Miss offensive lineman and eight-year NFL veteran Bradley Sowell, things were seen that can't be unseen in his visit to Austin, Texas, over the weekend.

But we also can't unsee the brilliant performances all three Ole Miss quarterbacks put on in the Grove Bowl, either.

They looked GOOD.

So, what now? The Brad and Chad Show tries to provide some perspective in its full Grove Bowl recap. Plus, Sowell and co-host Chad Flowers break down all the recent Ole Miss football developments on and off the field, including a busy portal Wednesday for Lane Kiffin's Rebels.

The Brad and Chad Show is sponsored by Blue Delta Jeans, Nest and Wild Mattresses and The Stevenson Griffin Group.

Franchise Player: For Ole Miss football, portal entries cut both ways Apr 20, 2023

Show notes

In this edition of Franchise Player, a site-crossover podcast of the Ole Miss Spirit (On3) and Inside the Rebels (247), Ben Garrett and David Johnson discuss the recent Ole Miss activity in the NCAA Transfer Portal, including three current-roster departures on Wednesday.

The most high-profile (and arguably surprising) entrant was Tywone Malone, the two-sport Rebel standout and former four-star prospect. We've heard he got in mostly as an NIL negotiating tactic, shining a light on another very-real portal problem the NCAA and its self-professed Guardians of the Game need to figure out ASAP.

LOL, good luck with that.
