    SHOW NOTES
Hey folks, it’s time for some Talk Heathen! Today’s host, Eric Murphy is joined by Dr. Darrel Ray. We begin the show talking about Dr. Ray’s amazing credentials and his upcoming conference in Vancouver, BC: http://www.cort2020.com It’s going to be an awesome show! Let’s get this party started!
The first caller is Maddie from Germany. She would like to talk about past religious trauma, how it severely affected her siblings, and how it affects everyone around them.
Next up, Jerry from Missouri would like to talk about how atheists don’t know the real story of the Bible. Called in to confront us about being wrong about faith. Ooooh, boy. Lots of goalposts are moved in this one. It’s frustrating and interesting to listen to this all at the same time!
The following caller named Conner from Texas is concerned about how therapists can conduct their sessions and not deconvert religious folks. People should NOT go into therapy thinking they will be deconverted.
The next caller in the queue is Michael from New York wanting to discuss how we have always had a belief in something greater than ourselves. He is on his way to questioning and growing out of his God belief. Congrats Michael! We are here for you if you need to bounce ideas off of us.
Bri in California is calling us back with an update! She is going through the deconversion process and called in to discuss her own religious trauma. She is also struggling with how her deconversion has affected her social life. Congrats Bri! We are here for you if you need us!
Afterwards we have Jeff from Canada. He wonders about how his time as a Jehovah’s Witness could be religious trauma. Feels a bit at a loss about how it is all connected. Is also autistic and also is concerned if he is viewing the past within the appropriate internal filters. Definitely contact https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org and https://www.seculartherapy.org/, they are ready to help!
And that’s the show for today! See you all next week!

    SHOW NOTES
In today’s episode of Talk Heathen, Vi La Bianca is joined by fellow Godless Bitches 3.0 host Jen Aldrich. Welcome back Jen.
Let’s get to calls. The first caller is Ronique from Tennessee. She is struggling and is challenged by the “new age” folks in her life. Listen in to hear Jen and Vi talk about how to create boundaries and also how to navigate this within her community.
Next up, Hayden from Delaware would like to talk about theistic belief and how it relates to atheism. Would like to also talk about how atheists tend to be condescending towards theists. Vi talks about understanding the process of deconverting and that the angry atheist can be part of that process. Like within any group, there’s almost always some bad apples.
The following caller named Jeron from Texas claims to be a believer, but doesn’t think God exists. Is he a theist? Is he a Mormon? Does he truly believe in a deity? Tune in to hear Vi try to walk and talk through this.
The next caller in the queue is Mika from Sweden wanting to discuss the definition of God from an atheist’s perspective. He provides a ton of fallacies and gish gallops a ton. Listen to all of it. It’s fascinating! The goalpost looks good here, oh wait I need to move them over there...
Next up, Sebastian in Chile claims that prayer can help everyone, even non-believers. After a long story about traveling to Peru, and taking DMT in the Amazon jungle, he continues to claim how prayer helped remove “dark energy and heaviness.” Hmmmm.
Our last caller of the day, Erin in the Eastern US would like to discuss how their partner is getting into woo and is concerned about them turning away from looking at the world skeptically and rationally. Vi and Jen help them looking at this and figuring out a way that strengthens their relationship.
And that’s the end of the show! See you all next week for continued Adventures with Heathens…

00:10:36 Arthur - TX - Would like to discuss belief due to personal experiences.
00:33:07 Kyran - FL - Why is it moral that Lucifer was cast out of heaven?
00:42:00 Tyler - MI - God must exist because abiogenesis was debunked.
01:01:49 Hayden - DE - Former “Atheist”, was introduced to theism. Recoverted!
01:22:09 Ethan - IL - Will be participating in a debate, would like to figure out goals.
01:29:55 Tam - Vietnam - Has the definite source of morality: It’s…
01:40:23 Daniel - CA - Which is more honest, The Book of Eric or the Bible?
    SHOW NOTES
Greetings heathens! Today’s Talk Heathen is going to be awesome! Eric Murphy is joined by Kevin Stein in taking calls.
Let’s get to calls. Hermer calls us (again!) from a cavern deep inside the Earth, he hasn’t fixed his phone or it could be a voice changer, hmmm. He proceeds to justify Lot’s wife turning into salt because sweat tastes like salt (again, sigh.) Eric asks if he has ever seen anyone turn to salt or watched someone fly. He resorts to talking like a “demon”. Oh, you’re a poe. BYE!
Arthur from Fort Worth, Texas calls in to talk about some personal experiences he thinks were supernatural. Kevin gets straight to the point: How do you confirm and verify these experiences?
The following caller named Kyran from Florida would like to talk about JW and a hypothetical about their beliefs in the devil. Was it moral that Lucifer was cast out of heaven by God? Interesting hypothetical question, not sure why he’s asking atheists, but it’s an interesting story.
Oh, you’ll love this… The next caller in the queue is Tyler B. Tyler from Mississippi who was riling up the live-chat during the show. We kept a line open for him specifically. He is wanting to discuss abiogenesis and how there is no evidence for it and there is only a living god that created everything. Pot, Kettle, God of the Gaps and Special Pleading fallacies, what?
Next up, Hayden in Delaware was a former “Atheist” turned Theist. Claims as an atheist he was (like all atheists) close-minded so he became a theist again. Hmmm, interesting.
Coming in like a wrecking-ball, we have Ethan up next. He’s in Illinois. Sorry, there’s no correlation there. Chicago is cold this time of year. Anyway, Ethan is wondering how to approach his next debate about making goals within a debate. Good Luck Ethan! Hope your debate on tuesday goes well!
Tam in Vietnam has the definite source of morality. It’s.... the behavior of a species that encourages reproduction and the balance of those being born and those dying. I am not sure how human survival is moral, have you seen what we are doing to our home planet?
Our last caller of the day, Daniel in California wants to talk about which book is more honest, the Book of Eric or the Bible. (We all agree, the Book of Eric is more honest.) Being pushed to a point, he asks about the “God Particle.” Google is a wonderful place, Daniel. I think you’ll find a wealth of information there.
And that’s it folks, see you all next week!

    SHOW NOTES
In today’s episode of Talk Heathen, Vi La Bianca is joined by Thomas Westbrook (aka Holy Koolaid.) Welcome back to the show Thomas, did you bring tacos?!
    Let’s get to calls.
The first caller is Brian from Oregon. The answer is 42. Just kidding, Brian brings up a couple scenarios of how to use hypnosis when talking with believers and experiences. Listen in to hear Thomas and Vi talk through this call.
Next up, Moldred from New York would like to talk about how there are differences between religion (which is a top down hierarchy) and spirituality (which is a bottom up). Listen in to hear Vi and Thomas break this down.
The following caller named Owen from Oregon is concerned about how there is a lot of biased evidence provided by the Catholic church and is making him wondering what is true. Vi and Thomas have a great conversation about this.
The next caller in the queue is Ameet from New York wanting to discuss an event that occurred during the holidays with his parents. His parents are concerned with his marriage prospects due to his atheism. Is it wrong to be loud about one’s atheism? NO it’s not wrong! Ameet, it does get better, keep staying true to yourself.
Next up is a returning caller, Josh in Texas would like to know if there were theists whose views we came to respect. Absolutely, as long as there is honesty going both ways, there can be common ground reached.
Afterwards we have Brandon from Arizona. He has justification for Hell. Claims every single sin is punishable by eternal torture and torment in Hell and Jesus died for our sins to save us from Hell. But why though? Yeah, let’s eternally punish people for finite crimes, that sounds fair. /s
We finally are able to talk to Patricia from New York, she is concerned about her brother raising children within a religious faith and is wondering how she can help lessen the chance of indoctrination. Vi provides the best answer and a quote: “The best way to bridge this gap is to have them learn about all the religions.” — Darrel Ray.
Our last caller of the day is Nick in Wisconsin. Discussing how he disagrees with Vi not bowing their head during holiday dinner prayers. He says he would have handled it differently, and sees it as being slightly disrespectful to their family. It truly comes down to a point of respect (like in a place of worship) but in a family home, it’s different and you should be allowed to be yourself.

    SHOW NOTES
Happy Holidays all you Heathens! In today’s episode of Talk Heathen, Eric Murphy is joined by Vi La Bianca. It’s going to be a great show!
Let’s get to calls. The first caller is Adam from Ohio. He ponders if it is possible to disprove the existence of God and the supernatural. We must explore and critically look at each claim, including personal testimony.
Next up, Hermer from New York would like to talk about his beliefs. He isn’t a Christian but has a “relationship” with God. Also believes the reason our sweat tastes like salt is because of Lot’s wife (who turned into a pillar of salt.) Just because sweat tastes like salt, doesn’t prove there is a God. Wow.
The following caller named Teddy from California would like to discuss the prime mover argument. Claims an omnipresent and omnipotent entity is the emergent cause of everything. Tune in to hear Eric discuss this argument and a couple others that come up.
The next caller up is Nimclow from Norway would like to discuss absolute certainty. Eric is able to get to the point very quickly, tune in to hear him explain it clearly and succinctly.
Next up, Rob in Toronto (not that Rob), has a couple questions about the burden of proof. Listen in to hear Vi explain the logic behind who has the burden of proof and why.
Afterwards we have Kevin from New York. Kevin would like to discuss near death experiences and a litany and variety of other shotgun thoughts. Watch how Eric and Vi navigate and bring him back to his original question: NDEs.
The next caller, Ash in Nevada would like to discuss how their transition will affect their relationship with a friend or family member whose parents don’t agree with their lifestyle (as if that’s a choice, sigh.) Love to you Ash, please reach out to https://www.seculartherapy.org/ and get the help you need and deserve.
Cam in Wisconsin is up next, he is in that weird “limbo” between theist and atheist and is struggling with completely letting go of theistic thought. He brings up Pascal’s Wager and using fear is keeping him a theist. Eric and Vi break it all down for him.
Our last caller is Andrew in Ohio. If Jesus arrived on Earth today (and was really real, a real person) what would he say to us? Tune in to hear Eric try to lead Andrew to the truth.
