Episode 78 is our 4th anniversary special. After the crazy year we've all had, it felt right to end 2020 with a TIP celebration. We've produced over 23 episodes, close to 90 hours of content, including 7 tributes, 2 album spotlights and some pretty memorable, informative and occasionally contentious interviews with artists like R.A. The Rugged Man, The Beatnuts, Spice 1, Jeru The Damaja, Ras Kass, Shawn J. Period, Meyhem Lauren, Apathy and Black muthafuckin' Thought of The Roots Crew!
Whether it was our 5-part 1995 Tribute, our 6+ hour MF Doom tribute, The Remix Show or Justice For George, we tried to keep you entertained in every conceivable way throughout this taxing year.
As many of your already know, an awful lot goes into creating each episode. No disrespect to those who strictly do interview shows or hop on Instagram Live for an hour, but we try to produce each show like a movie. In addition to those marathon-like interviews we do, we curate the music from the finest of hip-hop ingredients. From the selections to the sequencing to the mixing to the samples, our goal is to provide you a product that you'll listen to, not once, not twice, but frequently.
It's easy to put out content these days, but the average consumer chews it up and spits it out, only to be forgotten a week later. But in a year from now, when you want to remind yourself what 1995 was like, or if you want to suggest to a friend why Black Thought is the GOAT, or tell a friend why MF DOOM is one of the important rappers of the last two decades, you have our shows for that. When you want to re-live classic albums like Street Level or The Sun Rises In The East and learn things we've never heard before directly from the artists themselves, then you have our album spotlights for that. When you only want to hear the very best remixes or collaborations, we got you covered. We are a hip-hop library; A time capsule and ultimately the most complete hip-hop show you've heard since the great Stretch & Bob days.
Michael Jackson called himself the King of Pop. Howard Stern calls himself the King of all Media. On Take It Personal, we call ourselves the King of all Tributes. No other podcast or radio show for that matter is doing what we're doing.
Tonight is a celebration for sure. For just one episode, we decided to do something totally off-course. You're going to hear some of our FAVORITE joints from the 80s. We're talking Tears For Fears, The Clash, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, Pet Shop Boys, Naked Eyes, George Michael, Michael Jackson and much more.
If you grew up in the 70s or an 80s baby like myself, you're going to love this show and play it over and over and over again! Thank you all for listening, supporting, and giving us a reason to produce the best hip-hop podcast we can make. Like the legendary Bret Hart says the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.
Sincerely,
Take It Personal Radio
