Notre Dame's Steve Angeli revives QB competition with transfer to Syracuse (with Pete Sampson of The Athletic)) Apr 24, 2025

Show notes

Brent Axe and Chris Carlson react to the news that Notre Dame QB Steve Angeli has transferred to Syracuse

Angeli's addition to the quarterback room revives a quarterback competition that had seemingly been won by LSU transfer Rickie Collins in spring ball.

Collins' thumb injury and the addition of Angeli, a quarterback with limited experience but someone who has played in 8 games and the College Football Playoff for the Irish, creates an intriguing battle for the top spot.

Brent is also joined by Pete Sampson of The Athletic to breakdown why Angeli did not win the quarterback battle at Notre Dame and what he brings to Syracuse's quarterback room.

Syracuse WR Trebor Pena set to enter transfer portal: How will SU replace him? Apr 15, 2025

Show notes

Brent Axe and Chris Carlson react to the news that SU WR Trebor Pena is entering the transfer portal.

The news Pena went into the portal is a big surprise even in the transfer portal/NIL era of college sports where it seems we are less and less shocked by players transactions.

Chris and Brent analyze the impact of Pena's departure, he was SU's leading WR with 84 catches, 941 yards and nine touchdowns last season. SU is deep at wide receiver, but Pena brought a unique element as a slot receiver to SU's offense.

They also discuss a long meeting with that was held at midfield after practice on Monday night, that Pena was in, and the mood and brief comments Pena made after that meeting concluded.

Brent and Chris also got instant reaction from our Syracuse Sports Insiders on the Trebor Pena news.
