A New York City Bartender was sentenced to only six months in prison for the one-punch homicide of 21-year-old Danny McGee.
Finally, in Ohio, Brian Michael Rini, a 24-year-old man who fraudulently claimed to be missing Illinois boy, Timothy Pitzen, has pled guilty and was sentenced to two years for aggravated identity theft.
Police in Ottawa are searching for a suspect in Wednesday’s downtown shooting, which left one person dead and three seriously wounded. One of the victims is a 15-year-old boy.
In Alabama, the second trial of Colby Lewis began on Monday. Lewis is facing burglary and rape charges for a 2016 gun-point attack on a University of Alabama student, which he was linked to through DNA evidence. He was first put on trial in 2019, but a mistrial was declared in September, after one of the jurors refused to participate in the deliberations.
Finally, in Toronto, former pastor, Philip Grandine, was sentenced to 15 years for the 2011 manslaughter of his wife, Karissa, who was 20 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. The judge found that Grandine had been sneaking anti-anxiety medications into the victim’s food, leading her to drown in a bathtub. Grandine was found guilty of manslaughter by a jury in his first trial, in 2014. However, that verdict was set aside on appeal.
In Connecticut, Fotis Dulos, the husband of Jennifer Dulos, who has been missing since May 24th, 2019, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with capital murder in her disappearance. Michelle Troconis, who was Dulos’ live-in girlfriend when his wife went missing, was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Deputies in Pima County, Arizona, have arrested Dylan Jacob Thornton on auto theft, and identified him as a person of interest in the death of Steven Mark Brashear. Brashear was reported missing last month, and his remains were discovered last Tuesday in Pima Canyon. Three mountain lions were found feeding on the remains, but it is believed they did not cause Brashear’s death.

The victims were renting the place from the new owners on a rent-to-own plan, and had let the suspect stay with them until she could find a new place to live.
