Fired Up With Natalie Weiss! Chair of Stonewall Democrats Oct 10, 2022
    Show notes

Today, I speak to Natalie Weiss Chair of Nebraska Stonewall Democrats, a caucus within the Nebraska Democratic Party dedicated to electing pro-LGBT Nebraska democratic candidates and advocating for LGBT governmental issues. I spoke with Natalie back in July when she first became Chair. We had a great discussion about the Nebraska Stonewall Democrats and the work she has been doing with the Fair Ordinance in Lincoln. Be sure to stick around until the end to hear Natalie’s mic-drop message she has for apathetic voters, disengaged voters, and folks who say that the Republican and Democratic parties are the same. Still Fired Up! Patty Pansing Brooks's Congressional District 1 Path To Victory On November 8th! Jul 25, 2022
    Show notes

Nebraska Congressional District 1 Candidate Patty Pansing Brooks joins the Swing Left Nebraska Podcast AGAIN to discuss the incredible success of her campaign in the special election on June 28th and her strong path forward to victory in the Midterms on November 8th. Jeff Fortenberry previously held this seat, but he officially resigned on March 31st due to his conviction for three federal felonies for lying to the FBI about illegal campaign donations. As a result, GOP Senator Mike Flood of Norfolk faced Patty for a special election to seat the remainder of Jeff Fortenberry's term until January of this year. Patty only lost to Flood by a 53% to 47% margin. In other words, she crushed it! This was the closest election for a democratic candidate in this district since 1974. The voters are ready for a candidate who leads with compassion, is a champion for reproductive / LGBTQIA + rights, and will fight fiercely to build a system that works for everyone. This! Seat! Is! Flippable! Visit pattyforcongress.com to learn more about Patty, donate to her campaign, or sign up to volunteer. Bans Off Our Bodies! Fired Up Express! Jul 04, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to Season 2 of the Swing Left Nebraska Podcast. It’s been nearly two weeks since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade placing the right to abortion into the hands of the states. After the news dropped, protests have been happening regularly across the state. Thousands of Nebraskans are showing up and making their voices heard. On Tuesday June 28th, I was one of those Nebraskans's who showed up to the "Bans Off Our Bodies” rally on 72nd dodge. I met four awesome protesters who were kind enough to share their stories about why they were on the streets fighting to protect abortion rights.
