Changes in Brain Cartilage May Explain Why Sleep Helps You Learn + Snap Out of It: Change Mood On Demand Sep 09, 2020

SHR # 2584 :: Changes in Brain Cartilage May Explain Why Sleep Helps You Learn + Snap Out of It: Change Mood On Demand - Dr. Harry Pantazopoulos, Ph.D. – Dr. David Rabin - The morphing structure of the brain's "cartilage cells" may regulate how memories change while you snooze, according to new research. Sleep lets the body rest, but not the brain. During sleep, the brain accounts for a day of learning by making strong memories stronger and weak memories weaker, a process known as memory consolidation. But changing memories requires changing synapses, the connections between neurons. Sleep-induced changes need to overcome perineuronal nets, cartilage-like sheaths that not only surround and protect neurons, but also prevent changes in synapses. PLUS Ever wish you could just snap out of a mood? You feel tired or anxious and wish you could snap your fingers and change your mood on demand? Well you can, sort of. You can use vibrations to change your mood, relax you before bed or energize you before a workout. Here’s how. Get Apollo Neuro and save 15% OFF http://shrnetwork.biz/apolloneuro . Happy Healthy Hormones: How To Thrive In Menopause + How Carl Knows So Much About Menopause Sep 04, 2020

SHR # 2582 :: Happy Healthy Hormones: How To Thrive In Menopause + How Carl Knows So Much About Menopause - Dr. Daved Rosensweet, MD - Menopause derails the lives of many women. I’ve often said that if men went through menopause physicians would take it much more seriously. Most women are told “it’s normal” to suffer hot flushes, night sweats, sleeplessness, debilitating anxiety, depression, rapid onset cognitive decline, and much more. Not to mention the weight gain! They become zombies unrecognizable to themselves and their families. More and more physicians are now understanding that it’s “not normal” and women shouldn’t be told to just tough it out. My guest today has dedicated his career to not only helping women but training physicians and nurse practitioners in how to help women get back to feeling and being themselves again and thriving. Get Dr. Rosensweet's book Happy Healthy Hormones: How To Thrive In Menopause HERE>>> http://shrnetwork.biz/happyhealthyhormones . PLUS Carl discusses an experience he had back in 2002 that qualifies him to talk about menopause first hand.

From Causes of Aging to Death from COVID-19 plus Is This Why Men Die Sooner Than Women Aug 31, 2020
    Show notes

SHR # 2579 :: From Causes of Aging to Death from COVID-19 plus Is This Why Men Die Sooner Than Women - Dr. Mikhail Blagosklonny, MD PhD - COVID-19 is not deadly early in life, but mortality increases exponentially with age, which is the strongest predictor of mortality. Mortality is higher in men than in women, because men age faster, and it is especially high in patients with age-related diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension, because these diseases are manifestations of aging and a measure of biological age. At its deepest level, aging (a program-like continuation of developmental growth) is driven by inappropriately high cellular functioning. The hyperfunction theory of quasi-programmed aging explains why COVID-19 vulnerability (lethality) is an age-dependent syndrome, linking it to other age-related diseases. It also explains inflammaging and immunosenescence, hyperinflammation, hyperthrombosis, and cytokine storms, all of which are associated with COVID-19 vulnerability. Anti-aging interventions, such as rapamycin, may slow aging and age-related diseases, potentially decreasing COVID-19 vulnerability. PLUS My theory on why men are effected by disease states and die younger than woman. And it’s so simple you’ll dismiss it immediately. Dr. Blagosklonny is editor-in-chief of the journals Aging, Cell Cycle, and Oncotarget. In addition, he is associate editor of the journals Cancer Biology and Therapy and a member of the editorial board of Cell Death and Differentiation. mikhailblagosklonny.com PLUS My theory on why men are effected by disease states and die younger than woman. Oregon State Studies 5G Networks Impacts On Health plus Seafood Study Finds Plastic In All Samples Aug 27, 2020

SHR # 2577 :: Oregon State Studies 5G Networks Impacts On Health plus Seafood Study Finds Plastic In All Samples – Prof. Robyn Leigh Tanguay - Francisca Ribeiro PhD Candidate - Findings from an Oregon State University study into the effects of radiofrequency radiation generated by the wireless technology that will soon be the standard for cell phones suggest few health impacts. Fifth generation or 5G wireless technology, which began being deployed worldwide in 2019, provides faster connectivity and more bandwidth, meaning higher download speeds. But because 5G technology is so new, little is known about the potential health effects from its radiofrequency radiation, which is higher than the current industry standard 4G. The Oregon State study begins to change that. PLUS Perhaps we should start asking for a side of plastic with that fish filet. A study of five different seafoods has found traces of plastic in every sample tested. Researchers bought oysters, prawns, squid, crabs and sardines from a market in Australia and analyzed them using a newly developed method that identifies and measures five different plastic types simultaneously. The study - by the University of Exeter and the University of Queensland - found plastic levels of 0.04 milligrams (mg) per gram of tissue in squid, 0.07mg in prawns, 0.1mg in oysters, 0.3mg in crabs and 2.9mg in sardines. SHR # 2576 :: High Carb Vegan VS Keto Carnivore/LCHF/Carnivore + Cooking with Shannan: Low Carb / Keto Rice Pudding – Dr. Sean Omara, MD JD – Shannan Yorton Penna – Ron Penna - “Oh you won’t find any Visceral Fat in me I have been Vegan over 25 years”. Is this true? VAT is an indicator of declining health and the potential for disease. Vegan’s eat what they consider a “clean healthy diet”. Many turn to the vegan diet to ward off heart disease stating it lowers cholesterol. But VAT is a bigger indicator of the potential for metabolic derangement that leads to heart disease. We discuss the effects of a strict vegan diet as compared to a low-carb high-fat diet that includes lots of animal protein. http://medconwellness.com PLUS Making foods, especially deserts, low carb and still taste good is an art. Many things can help replace the taste of sugar, but what about the mouth-feel that carbohydrates and fats contribute to the experience? No one does this better than Shannan! Low Plasma Vitamin D Levels Increased Risk of Catching COVID-19 plus New Approach to Treating Osteoarthritis Aug 20, 2020
    Show notes

SHR # 2574 :: Low Plasma Vitamin D Levels Increased Risk of Catching COVID-19 plus New Approach to Treating Osteoarthritis - Dr. Milana Frenkel-Morgenstern, PhD - Dr. Bruce Cronstein, MD - Vitamin D is recognized as an important co-factor in several physiological processes linked with bone and calcium metabolism, and also in diverse non-skeletal outcomes, including autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity and cognitive decline, and infections. In particular, the pronounced impact of vitamin D metabolites on the immune system response, and on the development of COVID-19 infection by the novel SARS CoV-2 virus, has been previously described in a few studies worldwide. The collaborative group of scientists from the Leumit Health Services (LHS) and the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine of Bar-Ilan University aimed to determine associations of low plasma 25(OH)D with the risk of COVID-19 infection and hospitalization. Using the real-world data and Israeli cohort of 782 COVID-19 positive patients and 7,025 COVID-19 negative patients, the groups identified that low plasma vitamin D level appears to be an independent risk factor for COVID-19 infection and hospitalization. PLUS The study results revolve around the long-established idea that machines within animal and human cells turn the sugars, fats, and proteins we eat into energy used by the body's millions of cells. The molecule most used to store that energy is called adenosine triphosphate, or ATP. Along with this central role in metabolism, adenosine also helps signal other cells and serves as a building block of genetic material, and so is central to the growth of human tissue. Previous research had shown that maintaining supplies of adenosine, known to nourish the chondrocyte cells that make cartilage, also prevented osteoarthritis in similar animal models of the disease. Low plasma 25(OH) vitamin D level is associated with increased risk of COVID-19 infection: an Israeli population-based study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32700398/ . Intraarticular injection of liposomal adenosine reduces cartilage damage in established murine and rat models of osteoarthritis https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32778777/
