    Straight A Nursing: Study for nursing school exams & NCLEX

    In this show, Maureen Osuna, MSN, RN (Nurse Mo) breaks down a wide range of nursing school concepts so they’re easy to understand. Each episode aims to help nursing students improve their study techniques, pass nursing school exams, and feel more confident in clinical. If you’re nervous about nursing school, not “getting it” in lecture, or feeling overwhelmed with all the information you have to learn, this podcast will help you optimize your study time so you can learn more with less stress.
    While nursing school is challenging, it doesn’t have to be impossible. When concepts are explained in a way that “just makes sense”, nursing students have better recall on exams, feel more confident working with patients in clinical, and are better prepared for NCLEX.
    Nurse Mo understands the struggles nursing students face and draws on more than 11 years of clinical experience to make nursing school less intimidating. Each episode removes the “fluff” and focuses on the key things a nursing student (and nurse) needs to know about a variety of disease conditions. The show also provides tips for succeeding in nursing school, guidance for students and new nurses, and insider information to help you excel at the bedside.

    #287: Everything You’ve Been Taught About Digital Clubbing is Wrong May 18, 2023
    Show notes

    In nursing school, I learned that digital clubbing was a key sign of COPD and I accepted this as gospel and moved on with my life. I used this information to answer exam questions on the topic and I always included assessing for it in my care plans for patients with COPD.

    But, like all things in nursing, there’s so much more to this story.

    In this episode you’ll learn why much of what you’ve been taught about digital clubbing is wrong, and what’s actually going on (spoiler alert…we don’t fully know!)

    In this episode, you’ll get answers to your burning questions:

    * What is digital clubbing?

    * What disease conditions are associated with digital clubbing?

    * How is digital clubbing evaluated, measured and categorized?

    * What is the pathophysiology of digital clubbing?

    [Announcement] Your New Grad Nurse Questions Answered May 17, 2023
    Show notes

    If you're a new grad nurse or soon-to-be new grad, then you probably have questions. A lot of them.
    I remember being exactly where you are right now, only I didn't have the benefit of a nurse mentor. I had to navigate new grad life on my own. Even with a robust residency program, it was still one of the toughest years of my life.
    So that's why I've teamed up with my nurse bestie, Steph, to answer the most common questions new grad nurses ask. We've pulled them together and answered them in a free e-book called The New Grad Q&A Guide.
