In this episode, Grace finally made Derek watch High School Musical (something she'd been trying to do for a really long time). Also Elon Musk is buying twitter, but we were too busying researching Doom and Quake ports on early 2000's PDAs to really pay close attention! Also, it's probably not a good thing that Elon Musk is buying twitter, but anyway... Play Dates are starting to ship! Does this mean we're starting a new pocket gaming era like the late-90's and early 2000's? Well, with Nintendo allegedly bringing GBA games to Switch Online, we could see something like that. Plus your questions!

Hello Skele-fam!

Well, Sony is doing a GamePass, but it's quite different from actual GamePass. It's something that's been rumored for a long while and it's not really the best sell. Not having new games day-one is not great. Their best pitch is the promise of a gigantic library of classic games. It could be good, but it would need to do really impressive things with those old games. Like bring back PS3 multiplayer games! Bring back M.A.G. and you've got me on board, day one!

But before all that we have a brief talk about our little dog Dollop, aka the Ten-Pound Terrorist. After the Relatable Pet Owner Talk, we discuss the possibly improving state of Elden Ring messages, the timelessness of Burnout 3, and the show Our Flag Means Death. Oh and remember GameRoom on Xbox 360? Then questions!!

SSFP Episode #64 | Fellowship of the Bling Mar 22, 2022

Hello again, skele-fam!

We made it to episode 64 if you can believe it!

This episode starts with a brief PLANT UPDATE from Plant Mommy Grace, which I know you were all dying for. Of course Elden Ring is still getting many hours of play here at SSFF HQ, but Grace has really taken to it! She's been able to play it mainly because Uncle Derek was able to get a PVM monitor from a friend and finally play light gun games again! After straining his arm with several hours of Point Blank and Virtua Cop, he started messing with RPG Maker VX. And Grace still has dreams of making a video about the Game Bike peripheral. Then it's on to questions!

So 64 episodes now! This podcast started as a Patreon exclusive thing but we decided to make it public a little over a year ago. So far we've been keeping it fast and loose, just rambling conversation between the two of us. But would people prefer something more structured? Maybe discuss game news a little more? Or have fun segments with little intro songs? Or is the ramble what you crave? We're fine with either! But let us know what you'd like to hear!

Well, it turns out our Elden Ring concerns from the last episode were completely unfounded because I'm not sure if you've heard... but Elden Ring is pretty damn good! That's basically all Derek has been playing since it came out! And it brought up an interesting question - is it a deal breaker when a game gets complicated enough that you need to start making charts and journals? For Grace it really depends on the game.

But this isn't just an Oops All Elden Ring episode, we finally finished and released the Zeebo Past Mortem! So we discuss a little bit of behind-the-scenes with that, and then talk about what's next for SSFF! Plus new Doom videos incoming by way of a Patreon Poll! And then lots of your questions!

Also a Dead by Daylight dating sim??

Actually we do spend a fair amount of time talking about production stuff, the RE4 Mobile video we just posted to Patreon, and future videos, like the follow up to our 2019 Kinect video, more DELISTED, and of course the Zeebo! Plus questions from y'all got us thinking really hard about the mountain of junk Tiger Electronic produced throughout the 90's, how game collecting has changed drastically over the last 10 years, and more!

Ok, so episode 50, right? Well, on Patreon all 50 episodes are available, dating all the way back several years. However, just like our patreon, it's gone through a few phases before it just became Stop Skeletons From Podcasting. For a while this podcast was a Patreon exclusive thing, but we decided to make it free for everyone during the pandemic of 2020. The episodes before that change will remain Patreon exclusive, however there are a few episodes that need to be uploaded to the public stream. If I can upload them post-dated and not gunk up everyone's feeds, I'll do that.

We're still on an off-schedule for this month since we missed the 1st Monday. We'll be back on the 23rd of August, which is not the 3rd Monday I know, but it'll put us on a nice two-week schedule into September.

We can't close out the month without another Stop Skeletons From Podcasting! We're going on a trip to visit family and that messed with our schedule a bit, so this is a little late. But lateness will not stop us from sharing with you all our experiences playing motion controlled skateboarding games, and a brand new show that's coming to the channel! The madness never stops!

Plus we take a handful of questions! We got the same questions from a lot of people so we took out many birds with a few stones, as the saying goes I'm pretty sure. What I'm trying to say is we answered questions and that killed birds some how, which I'm not comfortable with. The killing birds, not the questions, we like questions. We survived the recent heat wave by doing what we've many times over, squatting at a Starbucks. Derek's also been playing a lot of Burnout games, which are pretty uniformly great if you haven't heard! SSFP Episode #45 | The Great Resident Evil 8 Discussion May 18, 2021

Welcome back Skele-fam!

We got a barn burner today! This entire podcast is dedicated to Resident Evil 8 Village. And to help with this dissection, I brought on one of my favorite human beings, horror animator & filmmaker Luke Green aka Clockwork Pixel. You know Luke, even if you don't realize it - he is responsible for all the bumpers and logos for the channel, he's been our "third skeleton" from the very beginning. He's also a huge fan of horror, I couldn't think of a better person to have this discussion with! He and I have had many wonderful talks about horror, it's about time we recorded one!

SPOILER WARNING! Mid-way through we get deep into RE8 spoilers!! We talk broadly about the game for a while, so there's still plenty to enjoy if you haven't played it yet. And we give fair warning before we jump in to the spoilery stuff. But too much happens in this game not to discuss the spoilers, so be warned! Basically we highly recommend this game, so come back after you've beaten it.

SSFP Episode #44 | The Ramp Up / The Slide Down May 04, 2021

Hey Skele-fam!

Producer Grace has returned for podcasting once again! And she's back to talk DVD Remotes, weird Sonic ports, and of course, the thing that has consumed our lives for MONTHS, the Nokia N-Gage (specifically why there haven't been any Past Mortems in such a long time). And most important - Grace's plant update!

Also, we forgot to mention on the Podcast that May 1st marked the 6 year anniversary of the SSFF Patreon. SSFF existed before the Patreon launched but May 1st 2015 is when it really became official! And we've been growing ever since!

In fact, we are dangerously close to our goal of 1100 supporters for the Zeebo video! Though depending on how you look at things, we DID actually pass that goal briefly late-April! It's typical to see a small exodus, credit card declines, or people reexamining they budgets at the dawn of a new month. So as I write this we are a few supporters away from the goal, technically. But as far as I'm concerned, once all this N-Gage mess is behind us, it's Zeebo time!

This episode is a little different because Producer Grace was unable to make it to the recording. But as luck would have it, we were able to get our good friend Matt McMuscles to fill in for her. Also lucky, Sony announced they were NOT shutting down the PS3 and Vita online stores literally hours before we started recording! So digital storefronts and the importance of games preservation take up the bulk of the discussion. Then it's big talk on the RE8 demo and of course Matt and Derek can't resist discussing horror games in general. We also dunk on Super EyePatch Wolf for no reason, I dunno.

SSFP Episode #39 | Zelda Majora's Mask GameClub Feb 09, 2021

It's been a wild few months but Podcasts have returned! Has it really been 3 whole months since our last podcast?? Woof...

Anyway, the game in the hot seat this time is Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, the time-loop N64 follow-up to Ocarina of Time. Majora's Mask is a game I've long appreciated but never actually finished. Now that I've not only beaten it but also spent ample time with the GameCube and 3DS ports, I'm ready to dish! That's right, we're talking both the original version and the controversial 3DS port! Which really shouldn't be as controversial but whatever...

It is also with a heavy heart that I must announce that this will be the final SSFF GameClub. We all needed a little extra community time during the early throes of lockdown and it got me to knock a bunch of games off of my bucket list, but in the end it was too much of a commitment. Video production is the most important thing and if things start to interfere with that, we have to step back and reevaluate things.

We haven't yet decided what, if anything, will take its place. But we've always been trying new things with this Patreon! We've had things come and go, we'll think of something fun.

We hope you and yours are doing well. We are almost through this challenging year but we've still got podcasts for ya'll. In fact, this is one of the loosest, funnest podcasts Grace and I have done. This episode has it all: news, patreon questions, and Derek 'n Grace bickering like the boring couple they are.

While this podcast is free for everyone to listen to, having it publicly available our Patreon page still limits its availability. We will be uploading both our two monthly SSFF podcasts to proper channels soon. However, to chat along in the discord will still require a Patreon pledge, but other than it's free for everyone, and soon more available than ever!
