    Mikel J. Wisler is a commercial and documentary filmmaker by day and science fiction author by night. He's a sincere believer that good science fiction can help us save the world. Through his writing and podcast (Exploring Tomorrow: Meaningful Science Fiction and Life's Big Questions), Wisler explores how we as people encounter and wrestle with meaning-of-life questions in the stories we love. He's the author of two novels, Unidentified, and Sleepwalker, with a third on its way. He's also written and directed several award-winning science fiction short films. Wisler was born in Brazil, South America, where he spent most of his childhood. He now lives on the south shore of Boston, Massachusetts, with my wife and daughter.     This story was first published in Fantastic Magazine in January 2021.

    Grant Carrington is the author of three sf books from Brief Candle Press of Beaverton, Ore., 2 CDs of original songs available from Amazon and other internet sites, 5 plays given full productions, and 40-50 stories, mostly sf. One was a Nebula finalist in 1976 and one won the short story award at the Sandhills Writers Conference in 1977. He attended Clarion 68-69 and Tulane 71. He was associate editor of Amazing/Fantastic 1972-74 and contributing editor of Eternity 1977-79. We do not speak of his poetry in polite company. He was a computer programmer for Goddard Space Flight Center, the US Navy, University of Florida, Savannah River Ecology Lab, Westinghouse, and the US Treasury Department. He has a BA (NYU) and MA (Univ. of Fla.) in mathematics.

    Summer Brooks is a story addict who watches too much television, and she enjoys putting her encyclopedic sci-fi geek knowledge to the test in discussions about sci-fi, horror, and comics. She has been doing just that on Slice of Sci-Fi since 2005, as co-host, producer, host and EIC, and as The Babylon Podcast co-host from 2006-2012.

    Summer is also an avid reader and writer of sci-fi, fantasy, and thrillers, with a handful of published credits to her name. Next on her agenda is writing an urban fantasy action-adventure, and a monster movie extravaganza.     Raluca Balasa holds an MFA in Creative Writing: Fiction from the University of Nevada, Reno. Her approach to writing is character oriented, often dealing with love/hate relationships, antiheroes, and antagonists who make you agree with them. Her short work has appeared in Andromeda Spaceways Magazine, Aurealis, The Mithila Review, and Grimdark Magazine, among others.

    Currently, Raluca works as a freelance editor and English teacher in the Toronto area. Her debut science fiction novel, Blood State, was released in September of 2020 from Renaissance Press. She can be found at her website.

    A member of the Dramatists Guild, J. Weintraub has had short plays and radio dramas produced throughout the United States and in Australia, New Zealand, India, and Germany. His fiction, poetry, and essays have been published in all sorts of literary reviews, general magazines, and scholarly journals, and his translations from the French and Italian have appeared in publications in the US, the UK, and Australia. As a translator he has also introduced the Italian horror writer, Nicola Lombardi, to the English speaking-public.

    This story was first published in Abyss and Apex in December, 2017.

    Jeremy Szal was born in 1995 and was raised by wild dingoes, which should explain a lot. He spent his childhood exploring beaches, bookstores, and the limits of people’s patience. He’s the author of over forty science-fiction short stories. His debut novel, STORMBLOOD, a dark space opera about a drug made from the DNA of extinct aliens that makes users permanently addicted to adrenaline and aggression, is out now from Gollancz as the first of a trilogy, with BLINDSPACE releasing sometime in 2021. He was the editor for the Hugo-winning StarShipSofa until 2020 and has a BA in Film Studies and Creative Writing from UNSW. He carves out a living in Sydney, Australia with his family.     Fred Himebaugh lives a pulp fiction life and takes notes. His family lives with him, warily, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Fred's fiction has appeared in Analog Science Fiction and Fact, Mysterion, and most recently at Distant Shore Publishing, but he is most proud that, after a long association with the StartShipSofa, working as a narrator, commentator, and Fan Number One, his story "Fingers" was selected for the Sofa in 2020. And then, Tony made him editor.
