Fake History and the Constitutional Value of a Black Person
By Marilyn M. Singleton, MD, JD

“Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bond to Service for a Term of Years [i.e., indentured servants], and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons [i.e., slaves].” U.S. Constitution, Art. I, Sec. 2.

In the spirit of fake news, Black History Month provides a forum for news pundits to lament that the Founding Fathers thought the relative worth of black persons was three fifths of a person. They should (and likely) know better. The Three-fifths Clause is not about black or white but was a formula for counting slaves for purposes of congressional representation and taxation. Clearly slavery dehumanizes the enslaved, but the Three-fifths Clause was a compromise that was a partial win for abolitionists.

Free black persons existed long before the Constitution was written. The first Africans brought into captivity to colonial Virginia in 1619 became indentured servants who were freed typically after 7 years just as their white counterparts. Other slaves were freed when they converted to Christianity.

The Ukraine scandal timeline Democrats and their media allies don’t want America to see | John Solomon Reports — For weeks now, Democratic members of Congress, career State Department and National Security Council experts and their allies in the media suggest questions about Joe Biden and a Ukrainian gas company and Ukraine meddling in the 2016 election were nothing more than debunked conspiracy theories. In reality, the facts on both these issues are clearly substantiated. And as I pointed out last week, many of the witnesses that House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff called during the impeachment proceedings confirmed concerns about both. Here is a detailed timeline of key events in the Ukraine scandal, complete with the corroborating evidence. You make your own judgement as to what happened.
PHOTO: Alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella shakes hands with Barack Obama in Oval Office — A year after Ukraine official and alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella left President Trump’s White House, a picture of him shaking Barack Obama’s hand was published on a close friend's wedding website. The Oval Office photograph, obtained by the Washington Examiner, is circulating among Trump allies who consider it evidence that the alleged whistleblower is biased against Trump and had partisan motivations when he filed an Aug. 12 complaint that sparked impeachment proceedings.

Show notes

Because Democrats are waging a nationwide campaign to make homelessness the norm. If it's normal and expected, then we cannot hold them accountable for running most of the areas plagued by joblessness and homelessness.

St. Louis County Looks To Change Panhandling Regulations | St. Louis Public Radio — Council Chairwoman Lisa Clancy, D-Maplewood, has proposed repealing the problematic vagrancy ordinances altogether. She drafted legislation to strike them down at the request of the county council attorney’s office. Councilman Ernie Trakas, R-South County, introduced a competing plan this week. He wants to rewrite the vagrancy regulations so they still deter panhandling but don’t run afoul of the law.
Homelessness in Missouri down overall, yet rose in St. Louis County - The Missouri Times — The number of individuals who have experienced homelessness in Missouri has dropped in recent years, according to a new study from the Missouri Housing Development Commission. Episode 616: BONUS!! Dems push to eliminate laws against Vagrancy - this time in St. Louis County! Jan 29, 2020

Show notes

This is my interview on FM News Talk 97.1 in St. Louis about the vagrancy law issue the St. Louis County Council is considering!
Instead of eliminating laws that protect citizens against aggressive panhandling and violence, Democrats seek to eliminate the laws in favor of "decriminalizing poverty." Give me a break. This is just more nonsense!!
