Wisconsin Sportsman - A Little Bit of Everything Dec 26, 2023
    Show notes

The holiday season is upon us and like everyone this time of year, Pierce & Josh are a little scatter brained... not quite like, "How will it be possible to make it to the in-laws on the same night as a work party?", but more along the lines of should cell cameras actually be legal? What's that one piece of gear the guys couldn't live without this season? Is Josh a hypocrite for telling folks to hunt public land but not telling them where he hunts? (Spoiler Alert: No!) Are we making hunting too easy for kids? How do we walk the line of introducing people to the sport of deer hunting and making them work, while also not sentencing them to a two year suck-fest of cold feet and blown opportunities? Should hunters have to figure it out for themselves or should we be helping one another along? If you like rabbit holes, this episode is for you!

Pennsylvania Woodsman - DSS: Real Truth with Nathan Killen Dec 22, 2023
    Show notes

In this week's Deer Season Special Bonus episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman, Mitch is joined by Nathan Killen. Nathan is well known for being an avid mountain hunter in the state of Virginia while focusing on mature bucks and also hunting with traditional archery equipment. If you are trying to learn more about becoming a better mountain whitetail hunter, there are few people whose knowledge surpasses Nathan's - listen to as many podcasts with him as you can! However, of any podcast he has been on, this episode speaks more wisdom than knowledge.

We touch on the giant 170" buck he recently harvested and the journey leading to the day he pulled the trigger. But Nathan's message is more about the blessing of this harvest. Nathan shares with us his faith in Jesus Christ, and how through his faith he has been blessed with more opportunity in life than he could ever imagine. Nathan shares how he does not feel any deer he harvests is done by him, rather, the glory be to the Father in Heaven who has blessed him with this passion he has become pretty good at! This episode is an awesome appreciation for the season and the real meaning behind Christmas! Merry Christmas!

Southern Way - Why the Southern Rut is SO WEIRD!!! w Lindsay Thomas Jr. Dec 21, 2023
    Show notes

Across most of the whitetail's range, a November rut is the norm. This is because historical climate conditions dictate that fawns must be born during a specific window in order to survive. But across much of the south, this isn't so. In fact, depending on where you are, you might see whitetails breeding during any month of the year! What has created such strange rut timing in the southern US?

In this episode of the Southern Way Hunting Podcast, host Josh Raley talks with Lindsay Thomas Jr. of the National Deer Association about why the rut time is so varied in the Deep South. The guys cover it all, from photoperiod, to stocking deer, to buck/doe ratios. They even get into a conversation about CWD and what hunters in the south should learn from states like Wisconsin that are on the brink of a major deer herd disaster.

    Enjoy!

No Lowballers - The Daisy Airgun Museum Dec 21, 2023
    Show notes

On today’s show with GunBroker.com, we’re talking all about Daisy with Joe from the Daisy Airgun Museum! Diving in Joe gives us a rundown on the history of Daisy, reaching all the way back to 1886 with the creation of one of the earliest known commercial air guns. He explains how Daisy came to be what it is today, including where the name Daisy came from!

Obviously when we think of Daisy everyone thinks of the iconic Red Ryder, but Daisy has some other really solid products like the classic Model 25. Make sure to tune into this episode sponsored by GunBroker.com to hear all about how the Daisy Airgun Museum came to be. Up next, Allen brings up Buck Jones and how it’s tied to Daisy and the Red Ryder rifle. Joe explains how Daisy transitioned from naming airguns after kids due to worries about how their reputation may end up causing an unfavorable outlook towards Daisy if they went off the rails later in life. We talk about the history of TV shows and movies tied to Daisy throughout the years, and Allen brings up the most iconic one: A Christmas Story. This year is the 40th anniversary of A Christmas Story and Joe gives us a run down on a limited run Daisy Red Ryder for the anniversary that you can only get at Daisymuseum.com!

The show launches every Thursday morning. Subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts.

The recap of the week discusses the bonus gun season weekend, a doe that Andrew was able to put in the freezer, the Santa Train sprint and more! How to Hunt Deer - Hard Work Leads to FOUR Big Whitetails in ONE SEASON w/Ethan Escue Dec 21, 2023
    Show notes

There are many guys out there who kill big deer every year. Some have access to primo ground. Some are able to afford expensive outfitters. Some are just plain lucky. And some, like the guest on this week's episode, simply put their nose down and put in the work.

Today's guest is Ethan Escue. Ethan hails from West Virginia, but after a cross country move last summer, he found himself with very little time to find new ground and new bucks to hunt. His dedication and hard work paid off with FOUR mature bucks. In this episode, Ethan shares how it all went down, some of what he learned, and why glassing is such an integral part of his scouting.

    Antler Up - 2023 Gear Breakdown w/ Jim D’Agostino Dec 20, 2023
    Show notes

Hey everyone, welcome to episode 204 of the Antler Up Podcast!

On this week's episode I was joined by my good friend Jim D’Agostino! Jim lives on the eastern side of PA, just outside of Allentown. Jim is a very successful hunter and archer. This past year Jim stepped outside of his comfort zone when it came to gaining access to a private farm. However, we don’t get into this chat because in this podcast we discuss the gear we were really impressed with. From Broadheads, saddle gear, clothing, arrows and more!

We led things off by talking about if Jim and his family are ready for Christmas and what is in store for Jeremy and his family! Following this quick discussion the guys get into what gear they used and were impressed with. Jeremy and Jim used both the SEVR 1.75 Broadhead and Jeremy also used the Grim Reaper Mini Mag. Following this the guys chatted about their arrow setup, how they used their saddles and how Jim uses Marsupial Gear to deck his out and to finish out the chat they discuss some specific clothing items. Again, we get into these topics and a whole lot more in this episode! Stay safe in the woods and enjoy this fun episode and see you next week!

Thanks again for all the support and best of luck out there and Antler Up!
