Wisconsin Sportsman - Advocating for Knowles-Nelson with Ducks Unlimited Jul 15, 2025
    Show notes

On this episode of The Wisconsin Sportsman, Pierce is joined by George Ermert, Kyle Rorah, and Brian Glenzinski from Ducks Unlimited to talk about Ducks Unlimited's role in advocating for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship fund, and everything that DU does for conservation! The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund is a fund unique to Wisconsin that has been used to purchase public land, create easements, and build bike trails, boat ramps, and campsites. Recently, the state of Wisconsin underwent their annual budget approval process, of which Knowles-Nelson did not make the cut. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, as you'll hear explained by George, Kyle, and Brian, but it is something that should be on your radar going forward. Outside of Knowles-Nelson, the guys share how DU works to purchase land through the Knowles-Nelson fund, how they build relationships with politicians in the state, ways they work to collaborate with non-hunters to work towards conservation initiatives, the importance of R3, and what the future of DU and Knowles-Nelson hold. It's a fantastic conversation you won't want to miss!

Hound Dog Network - Gone To The Dogs with Leon Childers Jul 14, 2025
    Show notes

Similarities in age and geographical backgrounds make for easy conversation between Steve and his entertaining guest Leon Childers in this episode. Childers, born in eastern Kentucky, followed the path of many mountain-born boys whose families sought better jobs and better times in northern climes. For Childers, the move from the same area in which Steve’s grandparents were raised, it was a move to western Ohio, particularly Fairborn, near Dayton. Steve and Leon bring the dog talk at its finest to the Gone To The Dogs microphones in an hour-plus of coon dog conversation the likes of which one won’t experience from those of lesser ages. Steve is 78 and Leon is 82. Childers has owned some of the better Walker competition dogs of the past sixty years or more and has an AKC World Championship to his credit. The talk covers many of Childers’ best hounds and stories about his handlers and his favorite hunts over the years. The conversation is organic. The entertainment factor is off the charts. Enjoy.
