San Francisco 49ers 2024 NFL Preview (Ep. 2062) Aug 19, 2024

The San Francisco 49ers biggest change was on their defensive front. Chase Young, Arik Armsted, Javon Kinlaw, Clelin Ferrell, Randy Gregory and Sebastian Joseph all leaving the team no doubt leaves a mark.

The team did a good job finding players to replace these departing players in free agency and through trade. Maliek Collins, Kevin Givens, Jordan Elliott and Yetur Gross-Matos should all make an immediate impact.

On the offensive side of the ball, the team who made the Super Bowl after winning the NFC last season returned all their stars. Mr Irrelevant Brock Purdy remains the quarterback with Christian McCaffery in the backfield who got a two-year $38-million-dollar extension making him the highest paid running back in the league.

The 49ers receivers return Deebo Samuel, and at least for now Brandon Aiyuk. Aiyuk has requested a trade from the team, but the team has navigated this path with Samuel before. If Aiyuk plays, or doesn’t the team spent their first round pick on Florida rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall who would make a good third option, or second option if Aiyuk leaves. George Kittle is back, and veteran Logan Thomas joins him to make a strong tight end duo.

Joe Burrow is back. That’s the biggest part of the 2024 Cincinnati Bengals. Now can he stay healthy, because when he’s healthy the Bengals have proven they can beat anyone in the league. They’ll need to find a new answer at running back with Joe Mixon moving on to the Houston Texans. The Bengals brought in veteran Zach Moss and also have second year running back Chase Brown.

The team addressed some pass catching options taking rookie’s Jermaine Burton at wide receiver and two tight ends in Erik All and Tanner McLahlan after losing Tyler Boyd and with the uncertainty of Tee Higgins's future. Higgins received the non-exclusive franchise tag which will pay him around 21.8 million for 2024. The team and Higgins were unable to reach a deal by the July 15th deadline so Higgins will play on this deal. All signs point to Higgins planning to be with the team for the season.

Defensive tackle Trey Hendrickson threatened retirement if he’s not traded. Sam Hubbard is already a solid veteran backup, and the team spent their first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on Myles Murphy. They also added defensive tackle Kris Jenkins of Michigan early in this year's Draft.

Dan Campbell is back and has improved the Lions each year. From just three wins in year one, to nine wins in year two to a 12-5 record in 2023 where they suffered a three-point loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. The core of the team returns on offense with Jared Goff signing a massive new contract. Amon-Ra St. Brown is looking to build on a great season, and Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam La Porta are coming off huge rookie campaigns.

The Lions enter the season with high expectations, they are 12/1 to win the Super Bowl with only the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, and Baltimore Ravens at shorter odds than the Lions. Their win total is set at 10.5 games and heavily juiced (135) towards the over. The Lions are one of only four teams (Browns, Texans, and Jaguars) who have never been to a Super Bowl. The hope in 2024 is to make that list of only three teams.

The Baltimore Ravens lost a lot of players this off-season. One of their biggest changes is the running back room. Out are JK Dobbins, Gus Edwards, and their mix of veteran has-beens. In is star running back Derrick Henry. Adding a beast like him in the run game should help take some pressure off quarterback Lamar Jackson and allow the team to grind the ball on the ground, for fantasy managers, this is the best place Henry could have gone to.

The offensive line is going to be a big question mark as they lost three starters in free agency. They’ll look for an instant impact from free agent Josh Jones and their second-round Draft pick Roger Rosengarten out of Washington. Losing both Rock Ya-Sin to San Francisco and Ronald Darby to Jacksonville leaves a big void in their defensive backfield, the team immediately addressed that with their first-round pick in Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins.

The Buffalo Bills had some massive turnover this off-season. They have some big names to replace on both sides of the ball. Most notably at wide receiver with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis both finding new homes in the off-season. Will it be rookie Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, or another receiver who steps up?

The Bills also took some big losses in their defensive backfield losing Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde, and Tre’Davious White. Rookie Cole Bishop and free agent Mike Edwards will need to make an immediate impact. The Bills did extend a few key players in offensive tackle Dion Dawkins, Guard David Edwards, Edge AJ Epenesa, defensive tackle Daquan Jones and safety Taylor Rapp.

Philadelphia Eagles 2024 NFL Preview (Ep. 2057) Aug 15, 2024

The guys (@GamblingPodcast) continue their 2024 NFL Team Preview series with the Philadelphia Eagles. We take a look at the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles win total, futures, and player props to find their favorite 2024 Philadelphia Eagles bets.

After starting last season 10-1, the Eagles quickly fell off the rails down the stretch ending the season on a 1-5 slide before being destroyed in the wild card round. They’ve reloaded and are looking to make another run at it this year. Saquon Barkley headlines the free agent class for the Eagles as he comes over from the division rival New York Giants. With center Jason Kelce hanging up his cleats Barkley provides an immense opportunity to help the Eagles in goal-line situations.

Not only did Jason Kelce retire, but so did Fletcher Cox. The retirement of these two veteran leaders will definitely leave a big leadership gap on this Eagles roster. The team re-signed elite pass catchers AJ Brown and Devonte Smith.

The team put a lot of focus on defense this offseason bringing back safety CJ Gardner-Johnson and bringing in linebacker Devin White. The Eagles then turned to the draft to address more spots on the defense with their top three picks all on the defensive side of the ball.

New York Jets 2024 NFL Preview (Ep. 2056) Aug 15, 2024

The guys (@GamblingPodcast) continue their 2024 NFL Team Preview series with the New York Jets. We're joined by Adam Chernoff (@adamchernoff) to take a look at the 2024 New York Jets win total, futures, and player props to find their favorite 2024 New York Jets bets.

It’s take two for the Jets in the Aaron Rodgers era in New York. The team brought back Morgan Moses and made their number one pick an offensive tackle to help immediately shore up the line in front of Rodgers, with the hope he’s able to play more than four snaps in 2024.

Their first five picks were all on the offensive side. After the big offensive tackle in Fashanu, the Jets grabbed Malachi Corley to catch passes from Rodgers and Braelon Allen to help spell Breece Hall in the backfield. The Jets are all in on this Aaron Rodgers offense.

After going 7-10 in 2023 with a variety of backup quarterbacks at the helm the New York Jets have a win total for the 2024 season set at 10.5 and are tied with the Buffalo Bills as the favorites to win the AFC East (+180) in 2024. Aaron Rodgers' window could be closing fast, and if head coach Robert Saleh can’t get it done, his seat could be a pretty hot one.

Houston Texans 2024 NFL Preview (Ep. 2054) Aug 14, 2024

The guys (@GamblingPodcast) continue their 2024 NFL Team Preview series with the Houston Texans. We're joined by SGPN Host Munaf Manji (@SportsNerd824) to take a look at the 2024 Houston Texans win total, futures, and player props to find their favorite 2024 Houston Texans bets.

The Houston Texans turned it around quickly last year. After going just 3-13 in 2022, they selected rookie quarterback CJ Stroud early in the 2023 NFL Draft and he led them to a 10-7 record last year and won the AFC South.

They didn’t hesitate to add talent in the off-season trying to capitalize on a chance to win now with a franchise quarterback on a rookie deal. They brought in the Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon who bring massive experience to two key skill positions.

The team really focused on the defensive line and the defensive backfield in both free agency as well as the NFL Draft. With a win total set at 9.5, the Texans are also favored to win the AFC South (+105), much higher expectations than they had last season.

Miami Dolphins 2024 NFL Preview (Ep. 2053) Aug 14, 2024

The guys (@GamblingPodcast) continue their 2024 NFL Team Preview series with the Miami Dolphins. We're joined by Big Rob (@bigrob198936) to take a look at the 2024 Miami Dolphins win total, futures, and player props to find their favorite 2024 Miami Dolphins bets.

The Miami Dolphins were up against the salary cap needing to re-sign their wide receivers. They did just that, restructuring Tyreek Hill’s contract guaranteeing him $65 million dollars over the next three seasons of the $90 million dollar deal. Tyreek’s running mate Jaylen Waddle also cashed in big in the off-season. He signed a three-year extension worth $84.75 million dollars, bringing the total of his contract through 2028 to $104.6 million dollars.

With his weapons locked up, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was up next. The Dolphins signed their franchise quarterback to a $212.4 million dollar contract extension including $167.1 million in guaranteed money. The loss of Xavien Howard is a big one on the defensive side, but the signings of veterans Kendal Fuller, and Jordan Poyer should help the Dolphins' defense backfield out. There was a lot of turnover on this Dolphins roster as they navigated the salary cap, but they did a solid job of replacing players they lost.
