Rays top pitching prospect Brent Honeywell leaves practice on Thursday after throwing a handful of pitches and the fear is he might need Tommy John surgery which would end his season before it begins. Rick Stroud has the latest on the Rays including the players they get from Pittsburgh in trading Corey Dickerson so the DFA strategy worked. Plus Jameis Winston rear-ended someone on the Veterans Expressway but no one was hurt, the police have ended the investigation into who wrecked DeSean Jackson's vehicle at International Plaza, and the Lightning win in Ottawa.

The Rays signed veteran outfielder Carlos Gomez to a one-year contract on Wednesday after trading Steven Souza Jr to Arizona on Tuesday. Rick Stroud has the latest player reaction to the trades and super fan Dick Vitale sounding off on the team. Plus the Bucs introduced defensive line coach Brentson Buckner and he told stories of facing the Bucs both as a player and coach but also attending a playoff game in Tampa in 2002 as motivation for he and his teammates.

The Rays continue their salary dump as they trade Jake Odorizzi to the Twins for a Single-A shortstop and DFA All-Star Corey Dickerson as they save about $10 million with the moves. Plus was local kid Aric Almirola robbed in the Daytona 500 as he was wrecked on the final lap, and the Bucs will most likely pick up Jameis Winston's 5th year option but they have decisions to make on several other guys as deals are coming up.
