We are in the midst of a blitzkrieg of authoritarian overreach, of revelations of actual attempts to overthrow the election of 2016 and continued attempts to impeach President Trump, and of an attempt to destroy our economy, our privacy and our way of life. It can be overwhelming at times: so overwhelming that we forget to remember what led us to this point in history. If we are to move forward, we must remember what strategies, ideologies, and political philosophies led us to the point to where we are today. In 1971, soon-to-be National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, Zbignew Brzeznsky wrote the following in his book, Between Two Ages: The Technetronic Era: "The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values. Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen and maintain up-to-date complete files containing even the most personal information about the citizen. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities." By 2030 You will own nothing and you will be happy Just yesterday, the World Economic Forum created a similar video (https://twitter.com/wef/status/1491094355444219906) proclaiming the virtue and necessity of Critical Race Theory (CRT). In the short video, they proclaimed that CRT was necessary for the understanding that our economic systems and judicial systems are filled with inequities that were created to benefit white people and the exclusion of minority groups. The remedy proposed by the World Economic Forum is Race Marxism: a system of race-based intersectional communism. We are in the process of transitioning from an analog, objective, real, physical world into a digital, subjective, surreal world. In that transition into a digital subjective world, we are experiencing a transformation of what is accepted as reality, when it isn’t reality: it is synthetic. In this discussion enters Jean Beaudriallard and his understanding of hyperreality the creation of synthetic reality, which is not reality at all: it is the creation of something that is more real than real. It is beyond propaganda, but propaganda is certainly utilized. It is the creation of simulacra and simulation. And in this world of simulacra, we are being told to ignore objective reality and embrace hyperreality: an unreality that has no connection with that which it claims to represent. Our way of life, our media, our news and our body politic are now guided by the ever-changing synthetic world of the hyperreal. Hyperreal is defined by Dr. James Lindsay as “more real than real” or not bearing any true qualities to the original.
