Even More News: Los Angeles Fires, The Misinformation Ecosystem, and a Free Medical Consultation Jan 10, 2025

Show notes

Hi. On the first Even More News of 2025, Kaveh Hoda from "The House of Pod" is back to talk about the devastating fires threatening Los Angeles and how Mark Zuckerberg's decision to eliminate fact-checking on Meta will make our information environment even worse. Plus, we ask him a bunch of health questions since he's a doctor and it's easier than making an actual appointment.

If you're able, here's where you can donate to support wildfire relief in Los Angeles:

The California Fire Foundation gives short- and long-term support to communities impacted by wildfires - https://www.cafirefoundation.org/what-we-do/for-communities/disaster-relief

The California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund targets the most underprivileged communities to make their aid go farther - https://www.calfund.org/funds/wildfire-recovery-fund/

World Central Kitchen is on the ground distributing food and water to affected areas - https://donate.wck.org/give/654000/

Revisiting Some News: The Whitewashing of Martin Luther King Jr. Jan 01, 2025

Show notes

Hi. Happy New Year! We're posting an episode on New Year's Day for some reason. But it's not a new episode. It's a replay of our January 2022 Some More News Episode about Martin Luther King Jr. and how conservatives (and many moderates) love to pretend that MLK's entire vision was about that one quote from that one speech that they point to over and over and over. Turns out the guy had more to say! So here's that episode with a new intro from Cody Johnston (and writer/director of this episode Will Gordh).
