Collectors: Barf Bags, Bones & Banana Stickers Sep 02, 2026
    Show notes

People collect some weird shit. Coins, cards, and stamps? Sure, we get it. But what about airline barf bags, banana stickers, bread clips, funeral cards, human hair, teeth, and questionable things in jars? This week, we dive into the strange world of collecting and try to figure out what makes someone look at an object everyone else would throw away and think, “Yep, I need 4,000 of those.” We get into some of the strangest real collections we could find, the surprisingly huge communities built around them, collectibles that are actually worth serious money, and the very fine line between being a dedicated collector and just being a hoarder with good organization. Plus, we play **Collector or Bullshit?** Can Brad, Brent, and Dave figure out which bizarre collecting hobbies are real and which ones we completely made up? From barf bags and hotel signs to bones, taxidermy, celebrity garbage, and banana stickers—apparently if something exists, somebody somewhere is collecting it. And the uncomfortable question of the week: **What weird shit do YOU collect?** Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. Would You Rather: Bad Choices, Dumb Arguments & Surprisingly Deep Questions Aug 11, 2026
    Show notes

Sometimes you don't need a conspiracy, historical disaster, serial killer, or three hours of research to make a podcast. Sometimes you just need three friends, a microphone, and a bunch of questions with no good answers. This week, the Sofa King Podcast takes on Would You Rather. The questions start simple enough: money or freedom? Your dream house or dream car? Perfect memory or the ability to forget anything you want? Would you go back to 18 knowing everything you know today, or take $5 million right now? But as usual, things don't stay serious for very long. Before it's over, we're debating horse-sized ducks, armies of tiny horses, aggressive animals, embarrassing bodily functions, terrible superpowers, and a collection of scenarios that reveal way more about a person than they probably intended. And somewhere between all the stupidity, a few surprisingly good questions emerge. Would you rather have more money or more time? Be successful but never around, or have less and actually enjoy your life? Know exactly how your story ends, or live without knowing what's coming next? That's the weird thing about Would You Rather. Ask the right question and a stupid party game suddenly tells you a lot about the people answering it. There are no right answers this week—but there are definitely some wrong ones. Listen along, pick your answers before Brad, Brent, and Dave give theirs, and then let us know which decisions we completely screwed up. And send us your best Would You Rather questions. We may use them the next time we play. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. Forever Chemicals: The Poison That Never Leaves Jul 15, 2026
    Show notes

Forever Chemicals & Microplastics: The Invisible Pollution Inside Us What if the most widespread pollution on Earth isn't something you can see? In this episode, we dive into the strange and unsettling world of forever chemicals (PFAS) and microplastics—man-made substances that have found their way into our water, food, blood, organs, and nearly every corner of the planet. From non-stick cookware and food packaging to synthetic clothing and bottled water, we explore how modern convenience may have created a legacy that could outlast civilization itself. Along the way, we separate fact from fiction, examine the latest scientific research, discuss how these chemicals became so widespread, and ask the bigger questions: Are we living through another leaded gasoline moment? Can these contaminants ever be cleaned up? What do they actually mean for our health? And what happens when "forever" becomes part of the human body? As always, the conversation wanders into unexpected territory with weird facts, dark humor, surprising history, and the kind of rabbit holes only Sofa King can find. Listen. Learn. Laugh. The AI Species: Are We Creating Our Replacement? Jun 26, 2026
    Show notes

Artificial intelligence is moving faster than almost anyone expected, and it seems like every week another headline makes us wonder if we're witnessing the beginning of a technological utopia—or the end of humanity as we know it. This week the guys dive into how AI has become part of their everyday lives. Dave talks about using AI in his college courses and how it's changing education. Brent explains how AI has become his go-to computer repair assistant... and occasional debate partner. Brad shares how AI has completely transformed the production of the Sofa King Podcast, from research and writing to creating original music for every episode. From there, things get weird. The conversation explores the many possible futures of artificial intelligence, including the twelve potential outcomes for humanity. Could AI solve disease, hunger, and poverty? Could it become humanity's greatest partner? Or are we building something that eventually decides we're no longer necessary? The guys discuss everything from AI assistants and autonomous agents to the possibility of humans living in a comfortable "utopian zoo," where superintelligent machines take care of our every need. Is that paradise... or the ultimate loss of freedom? As always, expect plenty of laughs, philosophical rabbit holes, ridiculous hypotheticals, and the kind of conversations that make you question whether your phone is already listening.

Florida Man: America’s Worst Superhero Apr 29, 2026
    Show notes

What happens when reality is so ridiculous… it sounds fake? In this episode, we dive headfirst into the chaotic legend of Florida Man—a single, mythical entity made up of the most unhinged headlines ever written. From alligator incidents to crimes that make absolutely no sense, we put our sanity on the line with a game of “Florida Man or Bullshit?” Can you tell what’s real… and what we completely made up? It gets harder as we go, and by the final round, even we don’t know what to believe anymore. Along the way, we break down the stories, react in real time, and try to answer the bigger question: Is Florida Man a person… or a phenomenon? And stick around for the end—because we close it out with an original track inspired by the legend himself… a sunburnt, chaotic, failed superhero just trying to do the right thing (and messing it up every time). The Neubauer Experiment: Playing God with Triplets Apr 09, 2026
    Show notes

In the 1960s and 70s, a secret psychological study set out to answer one of humanity’s biggest questions: Are we shaped by nature… or nurture? Led by child psychiatrist Peter Neubauer and hidden behind the respected adoption agency Louise Wise Services, identical twins—and even triplets—were deliberately separated at birth and placed into different families… without anyone’s knowledge. Years later, three brothers—Robert Shafran, Eddy Galland, and David Kellman—accidentally found each other, triggering a media frenzy and a story that seemed almost too unbelievable to be real. But behind the headlines was something much darker. Hidden records. Secret observations. Lives treated like experiments. And a truth locked away for decades. Tonight, we dig into The Neubauer Experiment—a study that didn’t just observe human behavior… it manipulated it. Because when science crosses the line into playing God…who pays the price? Listen. Before NASA: The Incredible Story of Auguste Piccard Mar 17, 2026
    Show notes

Before astronauts, before rockets, and decades before the space race… one man built a metal sphere, attached it to a balloon, and rode it to the edge of space. In this episode we explore the incredible story of Auguste Piccard, the Swiss physicist and explorer who pushed the limits of human exploration in two completely opposite directions: the stratosphere above Earth and the deepest trenches of the ocean. In 1931, Piccard became the first human to reach the upper stratosphere inside a pressurized gondola, witnessing the curvature of the Earth and a sky so dark it resembled space itself. But he wasn’t finished. Later in life he invented the bathyscaphe, a revolutionary deep-sea vessel that would eventually allow his son to descend nearly seven miles to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. From cosmic rays and balloon flights to deep-sea exploration and the limits of human survival, Piccard’s work helped shape the technology that would later lead to modern spacecraft and deep-ocean submersibles. This is the story of a man who helped humanity explore both the highest and lowest frontiers of our planet. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. Out-of-Place Ancient Artifacts That Break the Timeline Feb 24, 2026
    Show notes

Some artifacts don’t belong. Buried in sand. Hidden in shipwrecks. Locked in museum cases. Objects that shouldn’t exist — at least not according to the official timeline. In this episode, we dive into the world of Out-of-Place Artifacts — the Baghdad Battery, the Antikythera Mechanism, the Iron Pillar of Delhi, the Sabu Disc, the Nimrud Lens, the Wedge of Aiud — relics that feel like glitches in history itself. Ancient batteries. Mechanical computers 2,000 years ahead of their time. Rust-proof iron. Precision stonework that modern tools struggle to replicate. Are these just misunderstood relics… Or evidence that something has been forgotten — or erased? Was there lost technology? A vanished civilization? Cycles of collapse we refuse to acknowledge? The deeper you look, the stranger it gets. History tells a story. But sometimes the artifacts tell a different one. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. Vimana: Ancient Flying Machines They Called Myth Feb 10, 2026
    Show notes

Ancient texts describe flying machines thousands of years before modern aviation — were they myth… or something more? In this episode, we dive into Vimanas — legendary aerial craft described in ancient Indian scriptures like the Ramayana and Mahabharata. These texts speak of metallic flying vehicles capable of hovering, extreme speed, interplanetary travel, and devastating weapons that sound disturbingly modern. We break down: What Vimanas were said to be How ancient descriptions resemble modern UFO sightings Claims of lost advanced technology and ancient warfare Why mainstream historians call it mythology And why the details refuse to be ignored Are Vimanas symbolic stories… misunderstood technology… or evidence that ancient civilizations knew far more than we’re told? Look up. History might not be as primitive as we think. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. Shanti Devi: The Girl Who Remembered Dying Jan 27, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we dive into one of the most disturbing and fascinating reincarnation cases ever recorded — the story of Shanti Devi. Born in 1920s India, Shanti Devi began, at just four years old, describing vivid details of a previous life in another city. She named her former husband, described her old home, recalled hidden money, and even spoke about dying during childbirth — all with accuracy that stunned investigators. What makes this case different? It wasn’t just family rumors or local gossip. Her claims were investigated by officials, witnesses, and even members connected to the Indian National Congress. Many of her statements were independently verified, leaving behind a mystery that still has no agreed-upon explanation. Is this proof of reincarnation? A psychological phenomenon? Or something far stranger? We break down the full story, the investigation, the skeptics’ explanations, and why the Shanti Devi case is still cited today as one of the strongest reincarnation cases on record. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything.
