#469 - A Quantity Of Horror - Big Lake Township, Minnesota Feb 22, 2024

Show notes

This week, in Big Lake Township, Minnesota, the horrible & gruesome discovery of a murder leads police in circles, with the case quickly going cold. There is plenty of DNA, but it doesn't match any of the suspects. After almost 10 years, a witness comes forward with the smallest of tips, that leads to a local Cub Scout leader, with an interesting past, and a very strange story, that doesn't quite add up. Will scientific findings put the whole case in jeopardy?

Along the way, we find out that it would be hard to run while carrying potatoes, that "a quantity" is the grossest way to describe an amount of a bodily fluid, and that its hard to fight science... until the scientist is wrong!!

#468 - The Killer Clown Mystery - Wellington, Florida Feb 17, 2024

This week, in Wellington, Florida, a happy, successful woman is met at her front door by a clown, with flowers, and balloons. The clown also had a gun, and uses it to murder this woman, in front of her family, before the clown slips off into the world. Despite a mountain of circumstantial evidence, and a very suspicious sounding husband, this case goes cold, for years? Did they ever find this killer clown??

Along the way, we find out that Palm Beach county is horse country, that it's hard to tell an identity through clown makeup, and that no one needs any more reasons to hate clowns!!

This week, in Valley City, North Dakota, the suspects are seemingly endless, when a young woman is found, horribly murdered, with a knife broken off in her neck. Could it be her boyfriend? Her ex? The town weirdo? The town hermit, who lives in a camper? Maybe a strange neighbor, who couldn't wait to touch the body? A very surprising conclusion is made, leading detectives down a rabbit hole of one man's depravity!

Along the way, we find out that Peggy Lee was apparently a singer, that no matter how weird someone seems, DNA will tell all, and that changing your name can't erase all the awful things you've done from existence!!

This week, in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, a tragic family is held together by the grandpa, but when he gets older, his granddaughter is there to take care of him... until he vanishes. She tells everyone that she took him to a nursing home, but can't remember which one. The horrible discovery of a corpse, in a tool box, sends police looking for answers, and what they find just raises more questions!!

Along the way, we find out that New Mexico may be cursed, that your Grandpa probably isn't in the same retirement home as Sophia, from The Golden Girls, and that some families just have it rough!!

This week, in Davenport, Iowa, an unhappy woman disappears, without a trace, but it's impossible to tell if she just ran off, or if something terrible has happened to her. When part of a torso, that has been cut up with a chainsaw is found in the river, cops think it's her, but also spread conspiracy theories. Will they be able to convict anyone, with no physical evidence? When we do find out what happened, it involves a murder weapon that we haven't come across yet!

Along the way, we find out that chiropractors can be scary, that cops shouldn't randomly float conspiracy theories in the local newspaper, and that someone may very well be playing a game, with a murder weapon!!

Along the way, we find out that you need to eat chili when it's ten below zero, outside, that people tend to know their own father's voice, and that the sketch of a suspect, probably shouldn't look like the sketch artist!

Along the way, we find out that pizza places like to use the word "Papa" in their names, that there are some things you just can't blame on your childhood, and sometimes, you absolutely can tell a man's future, from his past!!

Along the way, we find out that not all music lineups are created equal, that just because you're lonely, it doesn't mean you should hang out with anyone who is willing, and if you ride a Peloton, you probably won't stumble across a horrbly murdered corpse!!

Jealousy, and extreme anger seem to be the running theme, when a young woman is horribly beaten to death, a few years after her cousin was also murdered. Then, there's even more murder, as the murderer's husband murders someone, while claiming his ex wive's "spirit" forces him to! Confused? This episode will make it all make sense!!

Along the way, we find out that some independent bands dominate the fair circuit, that jealousy is a terribly dumb reason to kill someone, and that someone can't project murderous thoughts into your head from prison!!
