Welcome back, we are so happy to share two short stories with you. 🤗

Stella and her little brother Sam take a trip to the seashore in Stella Star of the Sea. Stella has been to the sea before and knows all its secrets, but Sam has many questions. In the second story Stella and Sam explore the outdoors at nighttime and encounter fireflies, raccoons, and bats.

Welcome back, we are so happy you are here. ❤️

Blackie and Don spend some time talking and then Blackie has her first real meal since she left Mrs. Thompson. It was so good and she ate a lot, Don was happy to share. After several days of good food, good sleep, and good company Blackie decides it is finally time to go home. Don asks her how she is going to find her way and she says she is not sure but says "I'm already lost, I can't be more lost than I am now" and then goes on her way. As she is traveling she continues to have more and more adventures. But will she ever be able to find her way home?

Canadian folklore is the traditional material that Canadians pass down from generation to generation. The largest bodies of folklore in Canada belong to the aboriginal and French-Canadian cultures. English-Canadian folklore and the folklore of recent immigrant groups have added to the country's folk heritage. There are no old castles, witches or warlocks in early Canada. However, the creation myths and early morality tales are interesting, and help us understand early Canada and the way its culture was formed. Many of these stories of course, stand in contrast to our values today.

✨ For the months of May and June we will be renewing our focus on Canadian stories and authors, with a particular focus on Prince Edward Island, a magical place away from the stresses of big cities and modern life. ✨

Blackie’s adventure continues as she leaves Dido and Tum Tum at the circus. She sees herself in a brook and says she is all ruffled up and getting too thin so she decides to head home. Blackie is sad that she will not get to see Mrs. Thompson again but thinks Arthur and Mabel must be missing her terribly. She starts on her way home but several days later realizes she really is lost. Blackie decides to find a house to stay at for a short while until she gets rested and fed and then she will try to go home again. How can she know which house is safe? She tries one and suddenly hears woof, woof, woof. Will she be able to get away?

There was once a Goldfish who lived in the sea. He was very happy and loved swimming in the ocean. One day he met a ship who told him many things that he did not know. The Goldfish, after finding out that the Silver Fish he loved was indeed the Moon, sank to the bottom of the sea to cry. Father Neptune came to see what the problem was and quickly came up with a solution for the small Goldfish that made everyone happy.

Blackie is being chased by some young boys eager to earn their dollar and return her to Mrs. Thompson. She runs through the town and as she tries to escape more and more boys are added to the group. Blackie finds a cellar to hide in until they are gone and then she heads out to the country in search of Mrs. Thompson’s home. She runs into another group of boys who want to catch her and she runs until she crawls into a tent and a large cage. What she finds inside the cage is not at all what she expected!

The Story Girl was one of the books which inspired the Canadian television series Road to Avonlea and follows the adventures of a group of young cousins and their friends who live in a rural community on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Written by Lucy Maud Montgomery, a Canadian author best known for a series of novels beginning in 1908 with Anne of Green Gables.

Blackie is in the basket and trying to see as much as she can, but it is difficult when the cracks are small and you are bobbing up and down. She sleeps for part of the journey and then the adventure starts when they arrive at the train station. Blackie gets frightened by a loud noise and escapes from the basket to hide. She is very good at hiding and Mrs. Thompson and the workers cannot find her, what will happen next?
