The story told in this episode was recorded at a live storytelling event hosted by the New York City Department of Veterans' Services, SAGE, and the Generations Project in June of 2019. The event featured personal stories told by LGBT veterans from different service eras, including WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, and the War in Afghanistan.
