How often do we hear, "Who am I to judge?" in response to LGBTQ topics in a Latter-day Saint context? Sometimes, that's a perfectly reasonable response. But more often, we use that line to justify our fear of addressing the topic altogether.
In this new series, I want to explore the state of the LGBTQ conversation within Latter-day Saint circles. What do we say that unnecessarily alienates people? What might we say that inadvertently undermines important, eternal truths? What are the negative consequences of not saying anything?
In this first video, I explore 3 rationales for maintaining a morally apathetic approach to the question of LGBTQ relationships and identities.

Healing from Abuse as a Gay Latter-day Saint - Review of Preston's Book Jul 01, 2022

On his first mission in Asia, Preston experienced the unthinkable: he was sexually and emotionally abused by a companion. Returning home early, he dealt with clinical PTSD, depression, and was understandably bitter toward God.
Preston wrote about his experience of healing through Christ's atonement in his new book, "This Boy and His Mother"—the title coming from a quote in Elder Holland's conference talk, "Behold Thy Mother," in which he detailed some of Preston's story.
On today's episode, we talk about Preston's experience, the book, and some of the key lessons he learned in the healing process.

Dealing with Church-Related, LGBTQ Controversies Mar 11, 2022

WE'RE BACK! And we're discussing how LGBTQ / LDS controversies affect us now, how they would've affected us growing up, and how they likely affect young, impressionable, LGBTQ members of the church today.
Examples of these controversies would be David Archuleta's recent video about his desire to date men, LDS author and podcaster Charlie Bird's admission to dating a man, the BYU investigation of its treatment of LGBTQ students, and Elder Holland's remarks last year.
We looked for common themes throughout these controversies, what we can learn from them, how we can avoid being offended, and how we can stand firm in our faith while the online mob ascends on us.
