    165. Is Progressive Christianity Preaching Another Gospel? Oct 05, 2020
    Show notes

Author Alisa Childers joins Carrie Robaina to chat about her brand new book "Another Gospel?" where she helps the average Christian understand the theological depth of the gospel so they know to respond to progressive Christianity, can determine the Truth, and be able to rest in that.

    This Week's Takeaways:

    - If you're a Christian, you're already an apologist

    - Apologetics simply means to always be ready to give a defense for what you believe

    - Progressive Christianity is a movement that is springing up within the evangelical church where a group of Christians is questioning things like the virgin birth, do we really need to believe that Jesus resurrected, re-thinking cultural topics and how they relate to the Bible

    - Progressive Christianity largely demotes the Bible to be something that we can learn a lot from but is not authoritative in our lives.

    - Progressive Christianity is not attacking the secondary beliefs that are theologically debated like speaking in tongues or women in leadership but is motivate by action and how our behaviors make others feel and creates a lower view of the Bible by hyper-focusing on the human element

    - Could progressive Christianity be a different religion because it has a different god; the god of individuals as a deity?

    160. Navigating Back-To-School Season In The Mist of Covid-19 Aug 31, 2020
    Show notes

Carrie Robaina shares her 3 best tips for making the transition back-to-school easier in the midst of a pandemic whether you're homeschooling, going to private or public school!

    This Week's Takeaways:

    - As we go back to school the best thing we can do as followers of Jesus is to respect others even if we disagree

    - Grace goes a long way. If someone makes a different choice from us as to how they approach the school year we must absolutely show them love and not point fingers.

    - Prayer is the BEST thing we can do. Pray for administrators, teachers, parents, our own family, and of course our children. Below are some verses you can pray over your kids.

Bible verses you can pray over your children:

"You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." Psalm 16:11 NIV

"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." James 1:5 NIV

"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." James 3:17 NIV

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12 NIV

"I can do all this through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13 NIV

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 NIV
