Queerness in the Cosmere Jun 19, 2021

Show notes

Happy Pride Month everyone! This episode of Shardcast, we get very gay. We're talking about Queerness in the Cosmere, so we're talking about queer representation, examples, how Brandon has evolved over time and is putting in more representation. We also have some critiques and hopes for the future. So if you want to see the cosmere from a queer lens, this episode is for you! This week Jess (LadyLameness) has killed Eric and is hosting the podcast instead, and we have our token straight person, Alyx (Feather), as well as Matt (Comatose), Shannon (Grey), Ala (Rasarr), and Kadie (AonEne)! Ishar Jun 04, 2021

Show notes

Today on Shardcast, we talk about an extremely nice, totally sane character: Ishar! He definitely did not have his hand in a lot of stuff, or cause many problems. And he certainly did nothing disturbing in Rhythm of War! Also, news, and limmericks in Who's That Cosmere Character! This episode we have Eric (Chaos), Ian (Weiry), Evgeni (Argent), Grace (thegatorgirl), Ben (Overlord Jebus), and Ala (Rasarr), who even though it was just three letters wrong, I still pronounced it wrong. Way to go, Eric. He Who Quiets May 23, 2021

Show notes

Last time we talked about Moash in a meta sense, but let's dig a bit more into Moash, who now holds the title of He Who Quiets. But, of course, we also need to talk about Grace's villain crush, who used to hold that same title: El! This episode we have Eric (Chaos), Ian (Weiry), Alyx (Feather), and Grace (thegatorgirl)! Thank you to Alyx for editing this one while I was getting married this weekend. Moash May 08, 2021

Show notes

This week on Shardcast, we're talking about everyone's favorite character: Moash. Has any other character inspired such emotion throughout the fandom as that wayward-est member of Bridge Four? We're taking a deep dive into Moash's character, with plenty of hot takes on what role he serves in the narrative, where we think he might go after Rhythm of War (RoW spoiler warning!), the most important question: Should Moash be redeemed, or should he die very horribly in a very hot fire? Stay tuned to find out. We have Eric (Chaos), Alyx (Feather), Ian (Weiry), Grace (Gatorgirl), Shannon (Grey), and Matt (Comatose). This episode was edited by the effervescent Alyx (Feather), despite what Eric might try to tell you in the recording! Do not believe his lies. 0:00:00 – Introductions 0:02:18 – Let’s Talk About Moash, Huh? 0:27:41 – Can/Should Moash be Redeemed? 1:07:00 – Moash and Structural Inequality 1:33:59 – What’s Going to Happen to Moash Next? 1:39:34 – Conclusions 1:42:41 – Who’s That Cosmere Character Our thumbnail was our March Art commission by rspixart: https://www.patreon.com/posts/march-2021-art-49362169 If you like our content (and want to support more cool art), support us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/17thshard For discussion, theories, games, and news, come to https://www.17thshard.com Come talk with us and the community on the 17th Shard Discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/bMAUS5c Want to learn more about the cosmere and more? Show notes

So you've sent in a ton of Who's That Cosmere Characters, and we haven't done ANY from after Rhythm of War! We gotta go do that. So here we are, and we get through... fifteen characters. This week we have Ben (Overlord Jebus), Eric (Chaos), Alyx (Feather), David (Windrunner), Shannon (Grey), and Marvin (Paleo)! Skyward 3 Predictions Mar 28, 2021

Show notes

Switching off from cosmere things, let's talk about Skyward 3! It won't be called Nowhere, but we'll still make some jokes about it. There's plenty to discuss for what could possibly happen in this book, so check it out! This episode we have Eric (Chaos), Ian (Weiry), Shannon (Grey), and for the first time, Jessie (LadyLameness)! If you want to see our last episode on Skyward stuff, check out our Starsight Reactions podcast: https://youtu.be/N0wrSGZ0G_Y We also have some bonus content totally unrelated from the podcast, but there are Star Wars, MCU, and WandaVision talk that had nothing to do with this episode, and we cut it and put it on our Patreon.
