Seven Deadly Sinners — True Crime
Seven Deadly Sinners

Sinners are often people who believe they deserve every little thing they desire, and hurting others along the way…well that’s just road kill. On a small scale it’s scary, but on the scale these people have done it it’s down right evil.

Preachers, church, your faith are your most trusted source of comfort…but what happens when that world is shattered…

Season 1 of Seven Deadly Sinners took on the world of Televangelists and cultish child sexual predator, Warren Jeffs.

Seasons 2 and 3 of Seven Deadly Sinners, we’re traveling to the depths of hell, expanding our realm and covering Preachers, Cult Leaders and Religious Organizations linked to horrific crimes…and some of these cases involve leaders who kidnap, rape and murder the ones who trust them the most.

What if, after leading you in prayer, he lures to the bedroom.

What it the same preacher who captures your heart, kidnaps your child.

What if, the priest serving you communion used those same hands to dispose of a corpse.

These Preachers committed heinous crimes – right under …your…. nose.. – with a bible next to their bed – and a cross around their neck.

Rachael O’Brien is the host of Seven Deadly Sinners, and she guides you on this hellish journey of deception all under the guise of Faith. Subscribe and listen on @applepodcasts Now Let’s close our eyes, bow our heads and buckle up.

8: Envy - Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker vs. Jerry Falwell Pt 1 Aug 26, 2020

Show notes

Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker broke into television in the heyday, when no medium could rival the Christian ripoff off of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. Their televangelist show thrived at appealing to the sensibilities of bible belt stay at home wives with kids. The ratings soared and so did the ministry donations leaving Jim and Tammy in control of more money than they'd ever even thought of... but they knew just how to spend it. They went as far as breaking ground on a half baked attempt at a Christian Disneyland before envy got the best of an opportunistic rival in the ministry game: Jerry Falwell; and he was seeking to banish them from God's stage forever. Sex, Drugs, and millions of stolen dollars are at the heart of this sordid Evangelical story. And it wasn't just the predatory sexual encounter he had with 19 year old Jessica Hahn that landed him in jail, it was a forensic accounting look into his fraudulent use of viewers donations. You'd think he'd spend his life repenting but no no, Jim Bakker is still to this day grifti-ng his way into vulnerable people's pockets selling end of times kits and Coronavirus cures.

7: Sloth - Ted Haggard Aug 19, 2020

Show notes

Let me be clear - I don’t think Ted Haggard is a bad guy and it isn’t the hypocritical homophobia he preached or the meth habit that is his deadliest sin - it is the self loathing slothful crawl from grace that lasted years. Which, produced a documentary & 3 books that sold because of our addiction to gossip, and our modern day-colosseum-like approach to building someone up, only to tear them down. But Perhaps, New Life Church and the Christian community at large, is the guiltiest party of all in this story, for just short of committing an actual hate crime, they condemned the man because they just couldn’t stomach a gay preacher.

2: Gluttony - Robert Tilton Jul 07, 2020

Show notes

Gluttony is the overindulgence and over consumption of anything to the point of waste. In Christianity, it is considered a sin if the excessive desire for anything, food, riches, etc causes it to be withheld from the needy.

Gluttony can be interpreted as selfishness; essentially placing concern with one's own impulses or interests above the well-being of others. -Insert our star glutton Robert Tilton who specifically targeted some of society’s poorest souls and rested easy at night in his enormous mansion paid for by the 80 million dollars a year he manipulated his followers into sending him.

Robert Tilton is a true glutton for money. He loves money so much he needs yours more than you do.
