Will one of Jarace or Mathurin have to be traded? Predicting the Future of the Roster in 3 to 5 years + NBA News Dump Aug 02, 2024

Show notes

On Pt. 3 of the Mailbag Podcast, Alex and Facci talk about Jarace Walker, look at the roster in the future and predict what players from this group will still be on the team in 3 and 5 years, plus predicting Obi Toppin's minutes. Before all that, Alex gets the show kicked off with a LOADED NBA News Dump segment!

Matt Beckham @fakemattbeckham

Do you think Jarace could play some small ball 5 in order to get him minutes?

OffSN @PacersEnjoyer

Do you agree with my thinking that, almost inevitably, one of Jarace or Mathurin will traded at some point? With how loaded the depth chart is, it’s hard for me to see them BOTH as long-term contributors here. When should the Pacers look to shop them and add another win-now piece?

architectx22 @architectx22

Do you believe Obi's extension was more of a walking trade exception and buying time for Jarace or do you believe it is more of a we love Obi deal?

Random Questions

Rooster @roosterbra812

Of the current 15 rostered players, which ones do you think will be on the roster in 3 years and in 5 years?

Max @HartshornMax

How many minutes do you think Obi Toppin will be getting next season? I think he can be a massive asset for Rick next season!

Discussing Myles Future, Potential New Contract Numbers + Will Pacer go in Tax to Extend Myles? Aug 01, 2024

Show notes

Alex and Facci are back with Pt. 2 of the mailbag and they answer all of your questions about Myles Turner. Discussing Myles' future in Indy with this being his final year on his contract.

Joe Reagan @joe_bbjr69

I want Myles to remain a Pacer. With the cap pressure the Pacers will face though do you see the Pacers move on after next season? Woukd they stick with Jackson/Wiseman/maybe a $10-15 mil cheaper option rather than pay Myles $30 mil or so. Maybe it's required to pay Mathurin?

Christopher Lloyd @ChristopheLloyd

Great pod, guys! Recently y'all threw out out $25M/ per for Myles' next contract. If Hartenstein got $29M and Myles has similar numbers as the past two seasons (≥17p/7r/2b/37% from 3), I think a lot of teams want in & the bidding for his services STARTS at $35M. What say you?

Chris Weech @chrisofprod

Is there any world where we enter back in to the Myles Turner trade rumor season around February? What Intel would you have to know to pull the trigger on a mid season trade vs. letting him walk for nothing or over paying him?

(Btw love Myles and want him to retire a Pacer)

Pacer Faithful @jlh0215

Do you feel the Pacers are at a crossroads by the end of this year where they'll need to decide to either take a step backward or go into the tax to keep Myles? Or is there another way to keep improving?

Aaron @Aaroncd18

When do you think the pacers will or can extend Myles and McConnell

Devin - @basedevinO

Do you think Wiseman will rebound and have a decent season this year or is he truly a draft bust?

Travis - @PxcersFTW

Who do you think gets backup center minutes?

Jackson or Wiseman

Samuel Culbertson @sjc2397

The ceiling for James Wiseman?

Marc Goldsticker @hockeymsg

What is your prediction for the center rotation in the 2025-26 season?

CF @CFalcon31

Do we have the future starting SF on this current roster, or are they coming from elsewhere? If

Turner re-signs the next off-season, that should lock in 4 starters.
