Mailbag Pt. 2 - Should the Pacers go all in and make a big trade or continue to build with role players and small trades? Is the small ball lineup sustainable? Jan 17, 2023

Show notes

Alex and Facci are here to answer Pt. 2 of the January Mailbag! Thanks for your awesome questions and look in the description to see if your question(s) were answered on this episode!

Matt Peck - Do you feel that the pacers small ball lineup is sustainable for the playoffs or long term? If not what changes do you think need to be made?
Jeff Dunham - What does #BoomBaby mean, where did it come from, how long have the Pacers used it and why do I hardly ever see it off Twitter?
DJ Davis - if the Pacers rebound better they will likely win 25% more games. The Pacers need a 6'9 or taller PF who rebounds well and can shoot. Who can they trade for and what will we have to give up, player and/or pick(s)?
Chuck & Jamie - Put our beloved rookies under the microscope. What's your biggest compliment and biggest criticism/ improvement for each of them? Better yet- if it's hard to pick one compliment-make it a compliment sandwich- two compliments sandwiching a criticism/ improvement
Andrew - do you think it would be more beneficial for IND in the long-term to trade smaller amounts of capital for smaller-role guys, like Cam Reddish or Pat Williams, or would it be more worthwhile to trade larger amounts for a guy like OG or Lauri Markkanen? I see arguments to both sides, and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

Mailbag Pt. 1 - will the Pacers be buyers, sellers or both? What can Mathurin add to his game to make him better? Jan 16, 2023

Show notes

Alex and Facci are here to answer Pt. 1 of the January Mailbag! Thanks for your awesome questions and look in the description to see if your question(s) were answered on this episode!

Randall - Do you think the lack of defined roles as affected the players? Even though the Pacers are playing really good, it still seems like a make shift roster some of the time.
2 Pointers Pod - Do we think Turner gets moved in any manner at the deadline? Or are there other deadline moves you guys see?
Aaron M - This team reminds me of the Suns team that came from out of nowhere, and ALMOST made the playoffs in the bubble. The next season I believe they had the best record in the NBA. If Haliburton gets back in the next 2-3 weeks, do you think this team can have a similar trajectory?
Andrew - I feel like Mathurin has struggled to keep defenses honest on the drive. He gets a ton of cals, which is awesome, but don't feel it is sustainable in the long-term, and I feel it's a large piece as to why he doesn't yet start or close out games. He doesn't have a solidified midrange pull-up yet, and his three ball has been lacking as of late, and I'm curious as to what you all feel his next step should be as a player? Do you think he should prioritize distributing out of the pnr, or should he push towards developing a more consistent jumper to keep the lane open?
Tyler Christian - What do you think will be the team's strategy at the trade deadline? It's likely that Hali's injury threw a wrench in things, but do you think they'll be buyers, sellers, or a combination of the two?
Gavin - Do you think Duarte's name was off the table in talks for a sign and trade for Ayton? Assuming the package was Turner, Duarte, and a first?
Basketball John - What's the ceiling for Mathurin and Nembhard?
