    Sermons by Founders Ministries

The official sermon podcast for Founders Ministries, where you can hear sermons from our leaders, panel discussions, conference sessions and other resources. For more content go to www.founders.org.

Founders Ministries exists for the recovery of the gospel and the reformation of churches. We have been providing resources for churches since 1982 through conferences, books, The Sword & The Trowel Podcast, video documentaries, online articles, a quarterly theological Journal, Bible studies, International church search, and our seminary level training program, the Institute of Public Theology. We believe that the biblical faith is inherently doctrinal, and we are therefore confessional in their convictions. You can learn more about Founders Ministries and how to partner with us at www.founders.org.

Voddie Baucham | God Our Only Hope Mar 11, 2022
    Show notes

The depravity of the human race has been blatantly displayed in every place throughout all of history. The Apostle Paul was clearly right when he said, “None is righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10).

This truth is illustrated every day. We see riots in the streets, corruption in government, perversion in marriage, and then, of course, there is plenty of sin remaining in our very own flesh. The Reformer, John Calvin, taught that such things should turn our gaze to God. He wrote, “Indeed, our very poverty better discloses the infinitude of benefits reposing in God. The miserable ruin, into which the rebellion of the first man cast us, especially compels us to look upward.”

We have all sorts of trouble down here because we have neglected to look up there. We are made in the image of God. But many have forgotten God, leaving the phrase “image of God” meaningless. Now is a time to know God and worship Him. Calvin also said, “Nearly all the wisdom we possess, that is to say, true and sound wisdom, consists of two parts: the knowledge of God and of ourselves.” Man no longer knows himself. But there is no way to rediscover the truth about man without first coming to a true knowledge of God.

This sermon was given by Dr. Voddie Baucham on January 21, 2021 at the Founders “The Only God” national conference in Southwest Florida.

    Tom Ascol | God’s Law and God’s Children Mar 11, 2022
    Show notes

Is the law of God binding on believers? Are Christians freed from the Ten Commandments? What is the relationship between Moses and Christ? Since the time of the Protestant Reformation, Evangelicals have emphasized the importance of a right understanding of the relationship between the law and the gospel. This emphasis is still needed today.

Tragically, the law of God has been neglected by many, and some churches even promote a gospel of lawlessness. While antinomianism is proclaimed by some, others preach the law with no mention of the grace of God, falling into legalism. Founders Ministries has been teaching a confessionally reformed and biblical view of the law and the gospel since 1983, and by God’s grace, will continue to do so. The need in the churches of God is as great now as it has ever been.

This sermon was given by Dr. Tom Ascol on December 7, 2019 at the Founders "The Law and The Gospel" national conference in Cape Coral, Florida.

Mark Coppenger | Mature Manhood and Women Mar 07, 2022
    Show notes

There is a crisis of biblical manhood in our day. Everywhere you look, there seems to be a gutting of mature manhood and the way men have been called to live as followers of Christ. John Piper says "The essence of Biblical Manhood is the benevolent responsibility to lead, provide for and protect women in ways that are appropriate to a man's differing relationships." Our prayer is that the talks from this conference would be used to strengthen men, help men thrive spiritually, help men kill sin, reform broken men by the power of Jesus Christ, train husbands, train fathers, and aid in raising young men up to be godly, gentle, strong, and holy, having 1 Timothy 3 character. For more resources on these topics, you can visit www.founders.org

This sermon was given by Dr. Mark Coppenger on June 10, 2019 at the "Mature Manhood in an Immature Age" 2019 Founders SBC event in Birmingham, Alabama.
