Carter and Erica are joined by Samuel and Diego from The Half Blood Report to discuss their ultimate favorite book, The Son of Neptune! (HBR's favorite book, not exactly Carter and Erica's...) A delightfully well-constructed quest, brand new friendships, and the return of Mr. Percy himself!
Please take none of this seriously. Unless you're an exec from Disney+, in which case, we are totally. serious. With special guests Chloe Castro-Santos and Thomas Laub!
Join Erica, Carter, Jackson, and Ola as they begin to unpack Leo, Hephaestus, and why the hell Medea wasn’t brought back to Camp Half-Blood to teach witchcraft.
In this episode, we mention some retellings of the Medea story, which you can check out here:
As critical as we are of Rick’s portrayal of many of the female mythological figures in this book in particular, we do want to acknowledge that is the original myths themselves, inextricable from the patriarchal societies in which they were originally told, that first created harmful tropes and stereotypes these Riordanverse characters have occasionally fallen into. And we are so looking forward to Disney+ to give the screenwriting team a chance to rethink and reimagine many of the characters that appear in the Riordanverse. And as always, we highly recommend Helen Morales's Antigone Rising for more on this.

Join Carter, Erica, and special guest Brayden Stallman (Return to Camp Half-Blood) as they discuss Piper McLean’s journey through The Lost Hero, femininity, #internalizedmisogyny, and what it really means to be a child of Aphrodite.
Towards the end of this episode, we begin to ask questions about the kind of representation Piper brings into the Riordanverse. As Carter mentions, we are by no means a “qualified panel” to be discussing this, but we felt it was important to at least begin the conversation.
