NYM / ATL / ARI / SD = NL Wildcard Chaos. Anthony Rizzo Returns To Wrigley. The Shohei Ohtani Minute Sep 06, 2024

Show notes

There are currently 4 teams separated by just 2 games in the loss column for the National League Wildcard - and all 4 of those teams could actually still win their respective divisions! We rip through the remaining schedules of the Mets, Braves, Dbacks, and Padres and Casey breaks down each team's chances in this last 20-or-so game sprint.

Anthony Rizzo returns to Wrigley! We look back at the now Yankees awesome career and remember his time with that magical Cubs championship team.

Plus, the American League playoff situation is nearly as dicey as the NL. Will the Orioles hold on to the East and are the Royals looking over their shoulders at the Tigers for that final wildcard spot?

Tatis & Padres Walk Off. Cubs No-Hitter. Shohei Ohtani 50/50 Tracker. Standings WhipAround Sep 05, 2024

Almost too much to talk about today, including:

The Padres & Tatis Walk it off and are looking like a legit playoff team.

The Mets are on fire and dented the Red Sox playoff hopes.

Imanaga and the Cubs combine for a no-hitter and they're a pretty darn good team.

If you're the Yankees or Orioles, are you better off getting the Wildcard rather than winning the Division?

Bryce Harper hit by pitch gave Casey PTSD from a time he had to tell Jim Leyland that his arm hurt and he needed to exit a game while the Skipper was smoking a heater in the dugout.

Casey gives us a blow-by-blow about the amazing Pearl Jam Show at MSG last night. Which was epic.

The Angels walked Shohei Ohtani to get to Mookie Betts last night and Betts cashed in. We dive into why you can't mess with the best of the best like Shohei, Mookie, Judge, and Soto like that cause they'll cut you for it.

Whit Merrifield is pissed about the bean ball that hit him in the head last night and Sean Casey can relate big time. You won't wanna miss Sean's thoughts on the subject.

The Royals are in a downward spiral and Casey can tell you exactly why that is.

And the Mets are making their move but can they take down Chris Sale and the Braves for that amazing last wildcard spot in the NL???

Show notes

Shohei Ohtani and his dog Decoy had about as Hollywood a night as any baseball player and dog could ever have, haha! What is it about the Mojo some athletes like Ohtani, Derek Jeter, etc that makes everything turn to gold for these amazing players? We discuss.

Corbin Carroll and the Dbacks took the hearts right out of Edwin Diaz and the Mets in Zona. Are the Mets playoff chances on life support now and was that the shot in the arm the Dbacks need to propel them to the wildcard?

Speaking of the Wildcard, Chris Sale may make it a moot point if he keeps pitching the way he is for the current Wildcard Braves. Has he solidified himself as the top Cy Young candidate in the NL?

Plus, Casey drops one of his EPIC stories that you have to stick around for. It involves a lucky shirt, Justin Morneau, and Sean smelling like, as he describes it, "A Llama". Don't miss it!

The Royals get to the top of the AL Central and clinched the tie-breaker over the Guardians. Casey tells us why Vinnie Pasquantino is a huge reason why.

Brandon Nimmo compared Mets starter Sean Manaea to Jacob Degrom in his prime after yet another Manaea win last night. Sound crazy? We have the numbers to back up why we agree with Nimmo and explain how the Mets can overtake the Braves for that last wildcard spot.

Plus, an epic rant by Sean regarding the importance of RBI guys. We're on a soap box to give the RBI stat the love it deserves again!

NL Wildcard. AL East. Jackson Merrill vs Paul Skenes ROY Aug 27, 2024

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

Today's Mayor's Office Poll Question: Who should win NL Rookie of the Year: Paul Skenes or Jackson Merrill? Casey chimes in and Chinch asks the question, "Is it more difficult to win Rookie of the Year as a position player or as a pitcher?" Sean answers.

The NL Wildcard is insanity right now. Between the Mets, Cubs, Giants and Cardinals - which team has the best shot of taking the spot the Braves are currently clinging to?

What's up with the Mariners?

And if you're the Yankees and Orioles - would you actually rather end the season as a Wildcard team or the Division winner? Sean has a surprising answer.

Aaron Judge Chasing 63. Shohei Ohtani vs Francisco Lindor for NL MVP. Playoff Races! Aug 26, 2024

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

Aaron Judge continues to do otherworldly things to baseballs as he chases 63 home runs. While Shohei Ohtani continues to do otherworldly things to baseballs and on the base paths as he chases a 50/50 season. Casey gives us keys to their collective success while Chinch argues we haven't seen 2 guys in a sport dominate both coasts like this since Magic Johnson and Larry Bird back in the 80's.

Speaking of Ohtani - we asked the fans to vote: Should the fact that Francisco Lindor plays a high-end position like SS give him an edge over Ohtani in the NL MVP race despite Ohtani's otherworldly offensive numbers as a DH? We have poll results.

And finally, the NL West and AL Central races are on fire and may come down to the wire. We dive into why each team is having the success they are and if it's sustainable the rest of the way.

Francisco Lindor gets his flowers from Casey today as he's been posting up an MVP type season once again and playing literally every game.

Aaron Judge goes deep again. How historic is this season for him?

And great news for Pirates fans. The Bucs are letting him pitch and no shut down as of now.

All that plus an insane Sean Casey dream involving Jackson Merrill that he relays lol.
