Liu YongbiaoChinese crime writer Liu Yongbiao wrote novels that detailed grisly murders. Prior to his arrest he revealed in interviews that he started working on a follow-up to his hit book, The Guilty Secret. This follow-up was to be a suspense thriller - a detective drama about a gorgeous female author that has evaded capture after committing several murders. It was to be titled The Beautiful Writer Who Killed and liu admitted he had hopes that eventually it would be turned into a movie. His first book was such a hit it became the inspiration for a 50-episode Chinese television series. But his new book was going to be his masterpiece.4. Dead Cats in WashingtonYou’ve heard of serial killers but what about a serial cat killer? Well now you have because it appears, there’s one in Washington State where Cats are turning up dead one by one. Since February, about 12 felines have been found gruesomely and violently killed. 3. Mysterious Australian DisappearanceThe small town of Larrimah, Australia is embroiled in a mystery. With an official population of just 12, Larrimah is a nearly forgotten town. It’s tiny and run down, and It’s next door neighbor is the 3,000 km-long Stuart Highway, famous for missing person’s cases and disappearances. This was the same highway where British backpacker, Pater Falconio disappeared decades ago. Right now, only travelers or those with business wander into Larrimah, And when they do, there are only two spots of interest to see: The Pink Panther Hotel and Fran’s Tea House. 2. Criss Crossed ExOn July 24, 2011, police found the torso and lower leg of a female floating around Oyster Creek in Richmond, Texas. When divers were sent in to scour the lake, they then found more of the female’s dismembered remains. These remains were later identified as belonging to 27-year old, Laura Ackerson. A mother of two, it was unclear how she was killed, but autopsy reports showed she may have been asphyxiated and suffered some form of blunt force trauma to the neck. 1. Jaws Films Hidden Secret For decades, the identity of a woman nicknamed, “The Lady in the Dunes” has haunted detectives and sleuths everywhere. Found on July 26, 1974 in the Race Point Dunes of Provincetown, Massachusetts, the unidentified remains of a woman were found by a teenager walking her dog. The body was just yards away from the road and badly decomposed because of prolonged exposure to the heat and the outdoors. It’s believed it may have laid undiscovered for close to two weeks.Support the show

Oak Island Money PitConsidered one of the last great-unsolved mysteries in the world, the Oak Island Money Pit in Nova Scotia has baffled many people since 1795. During that year, a young man named Daniel McInnis found a shallow depression in Oak Island. Intrigued, Daniel, together with two friends, began digging, hoping to find what was underneath. The trio uncovered flagstones after several feet. Then, about ten feet after that, they found a tier of rotten logs. 4. Forrest Fenn What's one of the best ways to leave a legacy? Tell everyone you buried $2 million dollars worth of treasure and urge them to go out and find it. That's exactly what eccentric multimillionaire, Forrest Fenn has done. Fenn is a former air force pilot, business entrepreneur, writer and artifacts collector. At 86 when he penned his memoir, Thrill of the Chase, he decided to stir controversy by stating he buried a treasure chest containing $2 million worth of gold and jewels in the Rocky Mountains, just North of Santa Fe. Clues pointing to the exact location of the treasure are hidden inside a poem in his book. He has also given additional hints and clues in interviews as well as blog postings. 3. Beale CyphersThe Beale Cyphers or the Beale Papers is a three-page pamphlet containing cipher codes published in 1885. Out of all three pamphlets, only one has been deciphered so far and what it says is quite intriguing. According to the story, a frontiersman named Thomas J. Beale left behind the cipher texts in the 1820’s. He met an innkeeper by the name of Robert Morris and left behind the pamphlets in a strongbox before going out mining. Over the course of several months, Morris received letters from Beale chronicling his mining expedition and providing instructions to Morris not to open the strongbox until 1832. 2. Saddle Ridge GoldDiscovered in 2013, the Saddle Ridge Gold is one of the biggest treasure finds in recent history. It began when a couple walked their dog one morning around their property in Califorinia. Although they've used the trail numerous times, that morning, they discovered a rusty tin can poking out of the ground. They took the can home thinking it contained lead paint. But while struggling to carry it, a portion of the lid cracked open to reveal the edge of a single gold coin. 1. Copper Scroll TreasureFirst discovered in the caves of Qumran in Israel, the Copper Scroll was found alongside the scrolls that would later on become labeled as the Dead Sea Scrolls and eventually make up the Bible. However, the copper scroll was different from the rest of those found in the stash. Whereas the Dead Sea Scrolls were written on papyrus and paper, this one is made and written on copper mixed with tin. The scroll was found on March 14, 1952 and one of the last 15 scrolls found in Cave 3 of the Qumran site. Every week Twisted Two's dives into a pair of uniquely terrifying true stories that are worthy of a more in depth look.#1 Damon & Devon Routier - Rowlett, TexasOn June 6, 1996, 911 received a frantic call from the Routier home in Rowlett, Texas. Darlie Routier told the operator she woke up with an intruder inside her home and that they had stabbed her two sons, Devon and Damon before attacking her. Police were on the scene within 3 minutes of the call. After securing the home, they tended to the victims. 6 year old DEvon had suffered a major stab wound that went through to his torso and was pronounced dead on the scene. Meanwhile, Damon who was 5, was still gasping for breath and paramedics did their best to help the boy but he also soon died from a stab wound to the back. As for Darlie, she had superficial wounds on her arms and a slash across her throat that was just millimeters away from hitting her carotid artery. Darlie recounted how she had fallen asleep in the living room with her two boys. Her husband, Darin, and their 7-month old son Drake were asleep in the upstairs bedroom and they were left unharmed. She said she woke up to a man standing over and attacking her. She screamed for Darin and the intruder was alarmed and fled the home, dropping the knife he used in the kitchen. #2 Michael Silka – Manley Hot Springs, AlaskaManley Hot Springs in Alaska was a quiet small town boasting 80 residents in 1984. But in May of that year, a drifter by the name of Michael Silka passed through and did something that nobday there will ever forget. As a young boy, Michael loved the outdoors. He was fascinated with guns and has had a long history of run ins with the law. By high school, he and his brother ran away from home and lived in the woods, only returning after they had depleted their supplies. Michael later joined the US Military on the advice of a neighbor but by 1981, he was discharged due to an assault and discharging his weapon in the barracks. During his military training, he was rated as an expert marksman with a grenade launcher and M16 rifle. After leaving the army he worked odd jobs but also accrued more law enforcement problems. At one point, he spent 4 days in jail for resisting arrest. During his infractions, he had shown up in court multiple times but on December 20, he skipped bond and fled to Alaska.Support the show

The auditorium had a distinctive circular seating area that featured raised seats and it was capable of accomidating more than 900 people. 4. “Would You Help US” Sitting on more than 1000 acres of farmland, the Athens Lunatic Asylum, otherwise dubbed as "The Ridges," has always been considered controversial and haunted. In Ohio On January 9, 1874, the asylum first opened its doors and throughout the years has welcomed thousands of patients. The main building alone had 544 rooms and as time went by, many more areas were added as the building was expanded. Some of the later additions included a tuberculosis ward, gymnasium and even a dairy barn. 3. “Get OUT!” Dublin's most haunted landmark, The Hellfire Club sits a top Montpelier Hill. The abandoned building has had a long storied history and today is a very popular tourist attraction. William Connelly initially built it as a personal hunting lodge in 1725. It's said he used the stones from an ancient burial site to build part of the building. After Connelly died, the structure was rented out and became know as the Hell Fire Club – a gathering place for men to partake in lewd and immoral acts. 2. “I’m Not Crazy” The Village Salon is part of a set of historic buildings that stand in the heart of Grand Cane, Louisiana. Back at the 1800s, the set of buildings once served as a barbershop and even functioned as a courthouse that managed small fines. Employees of the salon have reported several instances where they've witnessed poltergeist activity on the premises. 1.”Get Out”/”Help Us” One of the most famous haunted ships ever known is that of the Queen Mary. It was first built in the 1930’s and is larger in size when compared to the Titanic. Throughout its history, it served as a transport luxury liner and even a World War II ship before it was eventually retired. Over the years, the Queen Mary has seen countless deaths. Some of the more famous ones include that of John Henry who was a young man that died when he was trampled to death after trying to flee a fire. It's said that various bright lights and knocking can be heard in the engine room and this is believed to be John. The smiley young boy was taken to school by his stepmother, Terri and At around 8:45 AM, she left as Kyron headed into his class. Terri said she then went to run errands and was at the grocery store until arund 10 AM. After that she then drove around town with her daughter in an attempt to soothe her earache. Then she headed to the local gym and was back home around 1:15 PM where she uploaded a photo of Kyron that she had taken at the fair that morning to her social media accounts. By 3 PM, Terri, Kyron’s dad, Kaine and their daughter, Kiara went to the bus stop to meet their son. However when the bus arrived, the driver said that the boy had never gotten on it in the first place. When the bus driver called the school secretary, she told his father Kyron never showed up for his math class and he was marked absent. Terri told the secretary she didn’t have Kyron with her since she dropped him off that morning and that he was missing. The school immediately called 911 who subsequently notified the police. #2 The Stanford Prison ExperimentFor psychologist Phillip Zimbardo and the researchers behind the Stanford Prison Experiment, the study was supposed to focus on how individuals would adapt when placed in a powerless situation. Funded by the U.S. Office of Naval Research, they wanted to test the hypothesis that it’s the personality traits inherent in prisoners and guards that are the main reason behind any abusive behavior present in the prison system. The experiment involved a two-week prison simulation done in a converted portion of the Stanford University Psychology Building, set to resemble the inside of a prison. Over 70 college applicants answered the ad. Each one was given diagnostic interviews as well as tests to determine their personality. The initial screening eliminated those with medical disabilities, psychological issues and any history of crime and abuse. In the end, there were 21 male college students who participated and they were randomly assigned to be a guard or a prisoner.Support the show

Vlad The ImpalerKnown for his penchant for blood, Dracula has been the subject of countless movies, books, stories and more. First mentioned in author Bram Stoker's novel in 1897, this fictional figure is actually based on a terrifying prince who also loved the sight of blood. Vlad III and later known as Vlad the Impaler was the Prince of Wallachia. Born in 1431 in Transylvania, he was the son of Vlad Dracul, then ruler of Wallachia. When he was 11, Vlad III was held as a political prisoner before eventually being released years later. 4. Genghis KhanBorn as Temujin in 1162, he would later be known as the ferocious Genghis Khan – leader of one of the most successful armies and empires that ever existed.Khan was born to violent times. His father kidnapped his mother and forced her into marriage. Before turning 10, his dad was killed and poisoned by his own clan and Khan, along with his mother and siblings, were left abandoned by the clan so they didn't have to feed them. Soon after this he killed his older half-brother to become the head of their household. 3. Attila the HunBranding himself as the Scourge of God, Attila the Hun was born in Hungary around 406. He became a feared name during the 5th century when he led the Hunnic Empire to devastate the lands of the Black Sea and several key areas of the late Roman Empire. When he and his brother first succeeded the rule of the Hunnic Empire, they offered a peace treaty with the Romans, initially asking for 700 pounds of gold coins paid per year. 2. Joseph StalinBorn and raised in poverty, Joseph Stalin rose to prominence to become one of the most brutal tyrants the world has ever known. As he grew older, he found himself partial towards the idea of communism, being heavily influenced by Karl Marx's "Communist Manifesto." Over time, he joined the Bolshevik Party, headed by Vladimir Lenin. When the Bolsheviks gained control of Soviet Russia, Stalin served in various key positions within the government, making friends and steadily rising to prominence. 1. Adolf HitlerBorn on April 20, 1889 in a small Austrian town, Hitler initially had three siblings who all died during infancy. While growing up, he continuously had violent arguments with his father, Alois, who was a domineering and strong-willed figure in his life. Hitler's dream was to be an artist but his dad disapproved and sent him to another school instead . But 34-year old Israel Keyes killed himself soon after confessing to his killing, choosing to take the cowards way out instead of facing prosecution.For nearly a decade, Keyes lived life like a seemingly ordinary man. After finishing his service in the U.S. Military, he set up his Construction business. After settling into Alaska, he used his job as a contractor to travel to different states to do jobs, but more importantly to commit his crimes. On March 16, 2012, he was arrested in Texas when he used a debit card owned by a young girl named Samantha Koenig. His rental car license plate was caught by an ATM camera which led authorities directly to him. See Eighteen-year-old, Samantha was an Alaskan native who worked as a barista at a coffee stand in Anchorage. In February of 2012 someone had kidnapped her from her workplace. #2 Fritz HaarmannFritz Haarmann’s guillotined head had been preserved in formaldehyde for medical and research purposes for 89 years before it was finally cremated by the University of Goettingen's medical department in 2015.For most people, the name might not ring a bell but Haarmann was a true pioneer – in serial killing. Dubbed as “The Butcher of Hanover” and “The Vampire of Hanover,” he was born in hanover, germany in 1879, the youngest of 6 children. At a young age he would manifest his deviancy by tying up his sisters, dressing up in their clothes and even going around at night tapping on neighbor’s windows to make it seem like something supernatural was happening. By the time he was 17, he was arrested for molesting several children. As a result, he was thrown in an asylum where he was to spend the rest of his life. However, he managed to escape to Switzerland and stayed there for 16 months before making his way back to Hanover. When he got back, he enlisted in the army but was discharged due to a medical condition. Afterwards, he got married and tried his hand at leading a normal life. But In the end, he left his wife and child after accusing her of having an affair. From then on, Haarmann pursued a life of petty crime and eventually horrendous acts of violence.Support the show

These are the 5 most haunted hotels in America.5. Shanley Hotel – New YorkBuilt in 1895 the Shanley Hotel in Napanoch New York takes the term "haunted" seriously. Enough so that every guest who spends the night has to be over 16-years old of age and supposedly made to sign a waiver, just in case something happens. One look at it would make you think twice about even approaching the property, let alone spending the night there. It sits on a street corner with its distinct Dutch Colonial architecture and peeling white paint, like it was pulled straight out of a horror film. 4. The Queen Anne Hotel - CaliforniaUnderneath it's gorgeous and historic pink Victorian façade, The Queen Anne Hotel is home to several ghosts and various paranormal occurrences. First established in 1889 by Senator James G. Fair, it was initially a girl's boarding school. Named the Mary Lake School for Girls, it opened in 1890 and was received with much acclaim in San Francisco. James Fair created the school not just as a business but also so that his two daughters would have a place of education and boarding once they arrived in the city. James was said to have a strained relationship with his daughters and it was his way of trying to win them back. 3. The Queen Mary Hotel – CaliforniaConsidered as one of the most popular transatlantic liners during the 50s, The Queen Mary ocean liner first set sail in 1936. It a luxury liner decked out with various amenities unheard of during the era. It had a built in pool, library, salons, several cocktail lunges, lush dining rooms and elegant sleeping quarters. It was even fitted with a Jewish prayer room with the hope of distancing itself from the racism growing out of Germany during the time. When World War II came, the liner was transformed into a military boat where it held more than 800,000 captives, soldiers and prisoners of war during its service.2. The Chelsea Hotel – New YorkFirst built in 1884 the Chelsea has become famous because so many talented artists, writers, poets, actors and musicians have at one time or another called it home, even if just for a short while. This 250-unit hotel can be found in the heart of New York City. Some of the most notable names that have stayed there include William Burroughs, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Stanley Kubrick, Jack Kerouac, Andy Warhol and Madonna. 1. Logan Inn – PennsylvaniaSettled in the picturesque area of New Hope, Pennsylvania, lies the historical Logan Inn. This landmark structure was first built as a humble tavern in 1722 and sits close to the Delaware River as well as the famous Buck's County Playhouse. With over three centuries of history, it's no surprise the inn has garnered a few ghost stories since its inception. It's a favorite haunt for paranormal experts and ghost hunters who believe that the inn houses more than just a few ghouls in its halls and rooms. But this latest one brought with it a surprise when it revealed the location of a previously unknown 4,000- 5,000-year-old henge in the historic Boyne Valley. It was a fine day when author and photographer Anthony Murphy decided to fly his drone over the famous prehistoric passage tomb, Newgrange. Murphy is a specialist of megalithic monuments and runs the website, Mythical Ireland. He’s interested in ancient structures, especially those in the Boyne Valley area. 4. Lucy LetbyFor more than a year, police had been investigating the deaths of 17 babies and possible harm inflicted on 15 others at Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester, England. The investigation was called on by the hospital in May of 2017, after they noticed a higher than expected mortality rate of premature babies and infants between March 2015 and July 2016. The hospital asked police to rule out cases of “unnatural deaths” and soon they narrowed it down to 8 cases before officially discovering a total of 17 babies dying suspiciously in the hospital while 15 others suffered “non-fatal collapses” which is when a baby’s health suddenly declines but manages to survive. 3. Liquid Lake On MarsThere’s liquid water hiding on Mars after all. That’s the good news brought by scientists this past month when they announced they found a body of water lying less then a mile underneath Mars’ south pole. For decades, scientists have been wondering whether liquid water was actualy present on the Martian landscape, since having water could mean the possibility of extraterrestrial life. 2. The Search for Mollie Tibbetts On the night of July 18, 2018, at 10 PM, 20-year old Mollie Tibbetts sent her boyfriend a message saying “goodnight” on Snapchat. Tibbetts was staying at her boyfriend’s brothers’s house in Brooklyn, Iowa. Her boyfriend was two hours away in Dubuque, Iowa for work so Mollie was alone. After this goodnight message, the following day, she was nowhere to be found. Mollie is described by her family as a “fighter.” She is kind, sweet and often has a ready smile. On the day she was last seen, Mollie went out to go jogging. Initial reports said she disappeared during her run but that timeline was off since she still spoke to her mother at around 7:30 PM on the night of the 18th and sent the Snapchat message to her boyfriend later that night. 1. Egidius Schiffer Known as the “Aachen Strangler,” Egidius Schiffer was a serial killer who murdered five women between 1983 and 1990 in the northwestern part of Germany. Schiffer targeted females who frequented nightclubs and nabbed them while they were on their way home or waiting for a bus or cab.Support the show
