Öyster Böys: Agents of Fortune (1976) May 27, 2025

Show notes

After briefly discussing the first (and somewhat premature in our opinion) live album from BÖC, we discuss their platinum breakthrough smash Agents of Fortune. Yes, it's the album with "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" on it but there's a lot more going on here. But don't worry, we're going to definitively and correctly break the whole thing down and you are going to agree with it all!

Öyster Böys: Secret Treaties (1974) May 20, 2025

Show notes

We're back to discuss BÖC's third album Secret Treaties (1974). It's a lot of things: definitely their first gold LP, probably their weirdest, and possibly their most thematically consistent. Inarguably it is a creative triumph for Eric Bloom (while ironically also serving as a creative low point for Buck Dharma). This is a big one, folks. Let's get into it!

Öyster Böys: Tyranny and Mutation (1973) May 13, 2025

Show notes

Our series continues with an in-depth look at the Cult's sophomore release. Informed by the band's energetic live act at the time, Tyranny and Mutation certainly strengthens their credentials as early heavy metal legends, but is it as artistically successful as their debut? Let's find out!

Show notes

Geezer, Geoff, and Tony Iommi are still here, Dio's gone, Tony Martin is back, and then...wait, who's Bobby? How can a good Sabbath album get made with all this chaos? Well...pretty easily, actually. We're talking Cross Purposes (1994)

Remember THAT Sabbath? TYR Jun 20, 2023

Show notes

Okay, hear me out...is this the most underrated Black Sabbath album ever? I think I make a pretty good case as a break down the Norse-ish concept-ish album TYR (1990).
