“To surrender is to stop resisting an enemy or opponent and to submit to authority. To surrender is to let go, not to be out of control. To surrender is to let things happen for you and not to you.”
There’s always a reason why things are happening. That’s why you need to learn to surrender.
The more anxious that you get, it is harder to hold and experience all of life's goodness. If you're constantly in a state of lack, if you're constantly in a state of chaos, you will never feel peace.
If you're constantly in a state of burnout, and you keep on trying to calculate and plan and strategize all of the little moves in your life, then every single decision will always come with a very heavyweight. I encourage you to stop trying to direct your life and instead follow a series of perfectly fortunate events.
I want to leave these three things that you can think about as you start to accept and go with the flow and surrender to the things that are happening for you and not to you.
- The first thing is for you to really find peace for yourself, to slow down, to quiet your mind, to understand what you really want and why you really want those things. And then to see how serendipitous life is and see how life starts to kind of leave you little breadcrumbs to get you to your final destination.
- The next thing I want you to consider is how you can live in the present moment. So live moment to moment and day today. Instead of constantly living in the future or living in the past. By trying to control the present, by avoiding the past and constantly thinking about the future, you don't actually get to participate in it. You don't actually get to enjoy it. You don't actually get to be present because you’re constantly living in another reality. You’re constantly living in another state of time. The only time that we have, the only time that we can live, is the present. And you rob yourself of the opportunity when you choose to live in the future or the past.
- The last thing to do in terms of surrender is to stop trying to constantly protect yourself and instead consider saying yes. When we are constantly in a state of chaos and when we're constantly in a state of protecting ourselves, we end up shutting things, people, and opportunities that are assigned to us. What if you said yes? What would happen if you said yes? What kind of life would you live?
I hope that this episode resonates with you. That you are able to live in the present moment. That you're able to say yes more. That you're able to really understand what is happening for you and not to you and choose to live a life that feels good because you deserve it.
