    RPPR Actual Play

Role Playing Public Radio presents a weekly Actual Play podcast of tabletop role playing game sessions. We play a wide variety of RPGs, from popular classics like Dungeons and Dragons and Call of Cthulhu to indie hits like Red Markets and Fate. Some of our episodes are stand-alone scenarios and we also feature ongoing campaigns in games like Delta Green, Eclipse Phase, and Base Raiders. Give us a listen if you want to hear a great gaming crew fight evil, try outrageous plans to save the day and joke about it.

Fear Itself: Invasive Procedures episode 1 Oct 17, 2012
    Show notes

I picked up the scenario Invasive Procedures at Gencon this year and I ran it for some of the RPPR crew as a 3 part game. I've decided to post the games as a build up to Halloween. I think you'll enjoy these episodes. From the scenario's introduction: "The kids all say Our Lady’s Hospital is haunted. You can see why, when you look at it, that big gloomy pile of staring windows and rusting beds. They should have torn the place down years ago, instead of letting it linger on like this. I’d hate to be a patient there. They send you there to die. You are a patient in an old, rambling hospital. Part of it is shut down, part of it lies in decay. The equipment is out of date, the staff are unmotivated and the whole place reeks of disinfectant, death and seventy years of despair. The hospital has ghosts and spirits walking the halls but they are the least of your worries. You should be afraid of what comes out at night. You should be afraid of what makes the ghosts flee."

Eclipse Phase: Know Evil episode 18 Oct 09, 2012
    Show notes

In this episode, the Firewall team finds itself in a delicate situation. After a botched raid on a group of snuff XP producers, the team is forced to undergo the justice system of the anarchist scum swarm. This turns out to be a rather complex political challenge, as the team must win over as many of the factions as possible in order to stay on the swarm. Of course, even a scum swarm has some leaders, like the security chief, Singh, who wants the team gone. But even as the trial goes on, each agent must carry on with their work, including dealing with multiple potential existential threats at once. Can Bartleby, Preston and Feiyin win the anarchist trial of the century? Find out in Know Evil episode 18! News: If you're a fan of former RPPR regular Cody, check out his new Kickstarter, Noir City!

Eclipse Phase: Dead Run Oct 02, 2012
    Show notes

Last year I ran an improvised game of Eclipse Phase for RJ, Aaron, and Drew. Since I had little time to prep, we used pregenerated characters (with some customization) and a plot I came up with fairly quickly. Dead Run is about a Firewall team sent to Earth to pick up a survivor and then check out a potential anti-TITAN weapon detected near the Cheyenne Mountains. Will they survive the horrors? Find out in Dead Run!

Call of Cthulhu: The Construct Sep 25, 2012
    Show notes

Inspired by METACHAOS by Alessandro Bavari. This episode dates back from last year's Halloween but I had forgotten about it until today so I decided to share with you all now. A group of New Yorkers are lured overseas by a human trafficking syndicate for a sinister purpose - to be thrown into a mysterious structure known only as the Construct. The rules of reality are seemingly suspended inside but there is a dark logic at work. Two alien intelligences are at war. Can this group of unlikely survivors figure out how to escape the Construct and their captors?

Wild Talents: The Heroes of New Arcadia Episode 15 Sep 17, 2012
    Show notes

Check out the Base Raiders website to preview the next major RPPR project! The Heroes of New Arcadia have righted many wrongs and saved many lives but no good deed goes unpunished forever. Their enemies launch a raid on their unprotected base, resulting in a major fight that pushes the group to their limits. After the battle, they decide to strike back but first they have to determine which of their many enemies attacked them and how they can best get revenge. Find out who their mystery foe is in this episode!

Eclipse Phase: Know Evil episode 17 Sep 12, 2012
    Show notes

In this episode of Know Evil, the Firewall team pursues multiple agendas as they attempt to blend in with the scum swarm society. SAIRAC, the AGI, must learn to become more human in order to avoid detection when they leave the relative safety of the swarm. Bartleby must fulfill several Firewall missions. Gerrard has a chance to learn the truth of his own past on Earth. All the while, the team is pursued by their enemies, both personal and otherwise. As things start to go awry, the team decides to raid a group of criminals as part of a Firewall mission. Of course the raid does not go well...

Shadows of Esteren at Gencon 2012 Sep 05, 2012
    Show notes

At Gencon this year, we got to play a game of Shadows of Esteren, as one of the game's translators was nice enough to run it for us. While we did not have time to fully complete the scenario, we all had a great time playing the game. A group of amnesiac travelers find themselves trapped in a strange building, beset by enemies on all sides. Even though they don't know their own names, they will have to band together if they hope to survive and escape the wretched place. Find out what nightmares lurk in the Shadows of Esteren. Please note this is a con game, so it is noisier than normal.

Don’t Rest Your Head: White Lightning and Yellow Thunder Aug 29, 2012
    Show notes

A group of insomniacs with desperate lives find themselves in the Mad City, battling its nightmarish citizens in order to escape and possibly find a way to better their own lives. But can these broken survivors find the power within themselves to succeed? How useful is the power to have your life narrated by a disembodied voice? This two part adventure was recorded over a year ago and was previously part of the Killsplosion ransom preview Actual Plays.

Eclipse Phase: Know Evil episode 16 Aug 22, 2012
    Show notes

The new tier of the Know Evil campaign begins! In order to hide out after the daring bank heist, the Firewall team retreats to the relative safety of The Stars Our Destination, a scum swarm that happened to be nearby. After ditching their weapons, the team gets a rare chance to rest and plan their next move. They have a chance to research the object retrieved from the bank safety deposit vault, catch up with their personal lives, and perform some side missions for Firewall. Of course, there are threats hidden in the swarm, waiting to strike out at them. If you enjoy this tier, you should get a copy of The Stars Our Destination and read up on this scum swarm! You can also check out the newcomer's packet in this post on the RPPR forums.

Call of Cthulhu: Delta Green – A Victim of the Art Aug 13, 2012
    Show notes

From Dennis Detwiller's Tumblr: “A Victim of the Art” is a Delta Green scenario set in the fictional town of Glenridge, Long Island. The investigators play Delta Green agents and/or friendlies brought in to solve a series of grisly murders which have rocked the small, rich, seaside community. The killer is not human – but the perpetrator is. A PDF of the scenario is available at the Tumblr page.
