E055: Stronger Than Fire-- Chris Sizemore Apr 04, 2023
    Show notes

    About Chris
Christina (Chris) Sizemore resides in Houston, Texas with her husband, daughter and black lab. In 2017, just before Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, their lives were devastated by a house fire. They lost their home, belongings, dog and her husband almost lost his life. Chris had two options, succumb to PTSD, guilt and depression, or live. She chose to live life brazenly.
Chris is a writer, artist, podcaster, marketing consultant and adventurer; working from home or from the woods with her family in their self-renovated camper. Together they have a goal of visiting every state park in Texas, stand up paddle board in tow. She is a content creator and producer of the podcast Stronger Than. She is in the middle of several book projects including a state park journal, a book about the their home fire journey and several children’s books she is writing and illustrating with her daughter and mother. She also admins Houston Women’s Hiking, a group of nearly 14,000 Houston area women with a passion for the outdoors.
She has a passion for mental health, exploration and encouraging others to see the world, follow their dreams, and live life brazenly. You can find more of her writing, podcast and art at strongerthanfire.com, or follow her on Instagram @strongerthanfire, where she shares her family’s adventures, garden, encouragement and weird humor like the backyard telenovela.

E053: Step By Step-- Polly Letofsky Mar 21, 2023
    Show notes

    About Polly
Polly Letofsky was 37 years old when she sold everything she owned, left her home in Colorado home and headed west – by foot – to become the first woman to walk around the world. She walked across four continents, twenty-two countries, and over 14-thousand miles.
Over her five years of walking and living one step out of her comfort zone every day, she developed a set of skills in goal setting, creating a clear vision, problem solving, adapting to culture, and team building. When she wrote her book about walking around the world and got ripped off in the publishing world, that launched her into taking those newly developed skills to start a new business -- My Word Publishing, a publishing model that interrupted the publishing world by helping authors professionally self-publish their books while maintaining 100% of all their rights. My Word Publishing has now grown into a publishing library of over 750 books, ten publishing consultants, 35 editors, and representing authors from 14 countries, and has just been submitted into the US Congressional Record recognizing their new publishing model that protects authors.
So while her friends and peer group were climbing the corporate ladder, Polly stayed on point with the childhood dream to go discover the world in her own weird way -- alone, by foot -- and that lead her to a dream she didn’t even know she had.

    E046: Uncovering A Legacy-- Svetka Popov Jan 31, 2023
    Show notes

    About Svetka
Svetka Popov is a successful entrepreneur, speaker, writer, and host of The Ones Who Dared podcast. Her mom’s passing was the inciting incident that propelled her on a quest to uncover stories of the two generations of women that come before her; her mother and grandmother. Before that, she had no interest in learning the history of the Soviet Union or Communism. She found not only heroes in those stories but discovered much more than she imagined. Through the interviews, countless hours of research, old handwritten letters, and the help of many. Svetka met brave souls who had lived in a time of hardship, persecution, and oppression by their country’s leaders. Yet, amidst it all, they have drawn closer to their faith. Their stories inspired her and offered her hope and a fresh perspective for today. Today, Svetka is writing a book about the courageous legacy of her mother and grandmother. She has been traveling and speaking in schools about the impact the Nazi regime had on her grandmother and the Communist persecution that her mother and grandmother faced in different ways. Svetka lives with her husband and their two sons on the East Coast. As an ambivert, she is not only addicted to books but is also a passionate gatherer of people, especially around a dining table. Svetka recently launched The Ones Who Dared podcast, which feeds into her new favorite activity of interviewing people with stories of courage.
