Episode 136: Elvira – Never Gonna Get A Ring From Count Chocula Oct 20, 2020
    Show notes

We decided to pick up this Halloween season with a story a bit more fun and inspiring than previous ones. You may not realize the role and influence Elvira has played in music, but it's there and it's heavy. Not only an icon for all things spooky, she is also a smart and strong babe of a woman who can bring a smile to anyone's face with her campy humor. Enjoy some funny anecdotes, a couple hard times, and overall a heartwarming story about the Mistress of the Dark herself, Elvira.

Episode 135: True Crime in Music II – 24/7 Existential Crisis Oct 14, 2020
    Show notes

We are continuing Halloween month by bringing back true crime stories, involving people in the music biz who have abused their power and influence and try to get away with some of the most heinous crimes. We tell the tales of two absolutely influential producers- first we discuss Lawrence Horn, famous for developing new layering techniques and his work with Motown. Then we give full details on a producer we mentioned recently, Phil Spector. Both may have done some amazing work that changed the world of music forever, but even that can't save their reputations from their own terrible acts.

Episode 134: GG Allin- The King of BTFU Oct 07, 2020
    Show notes

We are kicking off Halloween month with a pretty horrifying story. GG Allin's life was terrible from the get-go, and it didn't get any better as he grew up. Some think he was a legendary performer, while others see his on stage antics as downright criminal (cause they were). His unbelievable actions on and off the mic have influenced the punk scene for years beyond his death. There were many factors that went into this infamous musician, who preferred to call himself a rock n roll terrorist. This episode, we dig into someone who we absolutely do not condone, but tell the story as a cautionary tale; that mental health is very important and art can definitely go too far.

Episode 127: Talkin’ Butt Rock – with special guests Make It Stop! Jul 22, 2020

Just when things couldn't get worse- butt rock happened. One of the most polarizing styles of music to exist, sometimes loved, but mostly despised. Or at least an easy target to get dunked on. This episode, we have in-depth discussions about what it means to be butt rock. Why is it reviled and what is redeemable about it? Could it have something to do with the DBE (Big Dirtbag Energy) or is it just daddy issues? How many post grunge bands should be categorized as butt rock? All these questions will be answered as we are joined by our proteges from Make It Stop- Heather and Mike, PHBs in bad music, making them professionals on this topic in our eyes. Also enjoy hearing us teach the kids about butt rock in real time.
