Reverie True Crime — True Crime
Reverie True Crime

Reverie—a word that evokes dreamy introspection, yet not all daydreams are serene. Sometimes, when our minds wander, they lead us into shadowy corners filled with intrusive thoughts, fears, and questions about the darker aspects of humanity. These unsettling reveries can spiral into haunting curiosity about the crimes, mysteries, and injustices that mark our world.

Paige shares stories of unspeakable crimes and their lasting impacts. She also speaks with survivors, victims’ loved ones, and fellow storytellers, creating a space where the weight of these stories is honored with empathy and respect. Occasionally, Paige ventures into the realm of haunting, paranormal tales that blur the line between reality and nightmare.

Her goal is to illuminate the darkness, bringing attention to injustices, overlooked details, and the human stories woven into each crime. This podcast is not only about telling stories—it’s about understanding them, confronting them, and, hopefully, learning from them.

You can email case suggestions and even your personal paranormal/strange and/or crime related stories to ReverieTrueCrime@gmail.com

18. The Unsolved Mystery of Leigh Occhi Sep 21, 2020

Show notes

Leigh Occhi had just turned 13-years-old when her mother ran home from work to see if she was okay, after she couldn’t get her on the phone. What she came home to was the scene out of a nightmare. The reason I say “possible murder” in the intro is because some people think she was beaten severely and taken somewhere, possibly locked away. However, I believe the majority will come to the conclusion that this was a murder. This case, from 1993, is still unsolved to this day. Leigh has never been found. Was it the mother? Was it the kidnapping, rapist convict that spent so much time with Leigh at the church? After listening, I would like to hear your opinions.

In the summer of 1982, a young lady, Kathy Shaw was abducted, raped, and tortured for 3 days and 3 nights. A split decision saved her life. Now she spends her days wondering where this man is now. Is he the cause of most of the missing women in the Rockingham and Caswell county areas in North Carolina? Are there women that didn’t escape? Her case is closed and I have started a petition for all of us to ban together to get it reopened.

11. Dorian Corey: The Corpse in the Closet Jul 13, 2020

Show notes

Dorian Corey was an icon in her own right. Star of Paris is Burning and house mother of the House of Corey. She embodied fierceness and she was a wise human being. She took care of the drag community, mentoring and taking in LGBTQ+ people if they needed a place to stay.
By all accounts, she was never violent, mean-spirited and there were no signs that she could ever physically harm a soul...unless, her life was in danger.
She passed away in 1993. Her good friend and fellow drag queen went to Dorian’s apartment with two guys, searching for costumes for the two. What they stumbled across was not what they expected.

9. Kendrick Johnson: Freak Accident or Murder Jul 06, 2020

Show notes

Kendrick Johnson was a popular, high school athlete that the girls swooned over and the guys were envious of. In 2013, his body was discovered in the high school’s gym. He was suspiciously rolled up in a wrestling gym mat, he was upside down and the mat was propped up vertically. Automatically, it was ruled a freak accident. All of the authorities wanted the family and the media to believe that Kendrick had thrown his shoes inside of the mat and he fell in trying to retrieve them. When you closely look at all of the evidence, it doesn’t seem, at all, like an accident.

7. Victims of Injustice: Black Lives Matter Jun 10, 2020

Show notes

As podcasters, we have a platform and duty to speak up and call out injustice. In light of the murder of George Floyd, we have come together in solidarity to use our platform to speak up against racial injustice and amplify the voices of black podcasters that deserve more recognition. Racism is prevalent in all industries; from the media who under-report on black victims to the justice system which routinely fails black victims. In this collaborative episode, we document black history and current events with the voices of those who have lived through it.
