"No God Nor Country": Radical Rap in the Anthropocene (ft. Sole) Jun 26, 2019

Show notes

No God Nor Country is Sole and DJ Pain 1's third album as a duo. Its an album that explores questions of existential meaning and revolutionary politics in an era of crisis, chaos, and ecological collapse. It is revolutionary rap for working class radicals trying to exist in the Anthropocene. The entire project is DIY and totally independent and both musicians handle the heavy lifting and deliver the music directly to the listeners, without whom these albums would not exist. Regeneration: The Real Movement - Against The Solidarity Economy May 10, 2019

Show notes

In this article from Regeneration Magazine, the official outlet for the Marxist Center, Alyson Escalante responds to an article defending the solidarity economy over Marxist revolutionary strategy. In it she clarifies the Marxist conception of revolution, defends Leninism against those who wish to reject it, and shows the inherent weaknesses of utopian schemes dreamed up in armchairs compared to Marxist theory which has been tested in the process of building and defending socialism in the real world. Here is Alyson's piece (which I am reading in this episode): https://regenerationmag.org/the-real-movement-against-the-solidarity-economy/ Here is the piece she is responding to:https://regenerationmag.org/marxism-and-the-solidarity-economy/ You can find and support Regeneration Magazine here: https://regenerationmag.org You can follow Regeneration Magazine on twitter @RegenerationMag

Red Menace: "What Is To Be Done?" - Lenin Apr 25, 2019

Show notes

What is to be Done? is a classic work on the role and organisation of the revolutionary party in the communist movement. Lenin criticises economism, revisionism and spontaneity, and argues persuasively for a centralised and professional vanguard of the proletariat.

On this episode of Red Menace Alyson and Breht explain and reflect on the text, and then extract the core lessons for revolutionaries today.

What Is To Be Done? by V.I. Lenin
