Teaching Proverbs 2:12-15 to Your Family | Teach Them to Spot a Crooked Path Sep 24, 2026
    Show notes

It's hard to teach what you don't live. The solution? Live it. In this episode of The Resolute Man Podcast, we walk through Proverbs 2:12-15 and show you, dad, how to teach your family to tell the straight path from the crooked one, and to stay on the right one.

Here's how to teach this passage to your family:

    1. Start with the two paths

Before you read, tell your kids there are two paths in life: the straight and the crooked. The crooked path will try to take you out. Then tell them, "Not you, though. That's why we listen to wisdom."

    2. Teach them how wisdom delivers them (v. 12)

Read verse 12 out loud together. Discretion and understanding of God's truth deliver us from the way of evil. Explain that disaster usually comes from small, unseen wrong steps that pile up, and that walking with God protects us from taking those steps. Ask your kids: "What's a small wrong step that could lead somewhere bad?"

    3. Teach them what the crooked path looks like (v. 13)

People on the crooked path leave the upright way and choose the darkness. They're drawn to pleasure, self, and greed, and it all looks normal in the world. Ask your kids: "What have you noticed about worldliness?"

    4. Teach them to see the joy in evil (v. 14)

Normal people rejoice in doing evil, which is happiness in the wrong direction. Then go deeper: they delight in the perverseness of evil, the worst form of it. It's not just the sin, it's the joy people find in it. That's idolatry, whether the idol is money, self, or destruction. Ask: "Why is it worse to enjoy doing wrong than to slip up and feel bad about it?"

    5. Prepare them for the mockers (v. 15)

When you walk the righteous path, the crooked will mock it. Sometimes it will feel like a disadvantage while others cheat and seem to get ahead. Tell your kids: "You may lose the moment, but you are winning the battle." Ask: "When has doing the right thing cost you something?"

Bonus: Dad tips from Vince DelMonte (Fitness Pro Quits Testosterone Therapy, Reflections on Marriage Neglect, Ep. 15):

    • Success can become a substitute identity. Vince's fitness business became about status, and he went on testosterone out of insecurity rather than medical necessity. He never paused to pray or think it through. He just said, "I'm in."
    • Rock bottom can be the start of a real encounter with God. After separating from his wife of 14 years, he cried out to God on his hands and knees and felt a physical, supernatural presence holding him. His earlier prayers had all been "God, help me with my agenda," not real surrender to God's agenda.
    • Aim for "better," not "bigger." His business took a massive hit during the separation, and he now measures success by presence and priorities instead of scale.

This week's challenge: Ask yourself, "Am I living what I'm about to teach?" Pick one area where you're on the crooked path and fix it. Then pick one dinner or car ride to read Proverbs 2:12-15 with your kids. It won't be perfect, and that's okay.

πŸ™ Fathers, let's lead our families to stay on the righteous path.

Teaching Proverbs 2:9-11 to Your Family | Do Your Children Have Wisdom in Their Heart? Sep 23, 2026
    Show notes

Is pride keeping you from doing something your wife asked, just because it wasn't your idea? Don't be foolish. In this episode of The Resolute Man Podcast, we walk through Proverbs 2:9-11 and show you, dad, how to teach your family that wisdom has to penetrate the heart, not just the head.

Here's how to teach this passage to your family:

    1. Start with why wisdom matters right now

Before you read, tell your kids that seeking and receiving wisdom gives us a heightened understanding for navigating these times. Then explain the catch: wisdom has to penetrate the heart.

    2. Teach them the picture of morality (v. 9)

Read verse 9 out loud together. Understanding God helps us understand right living, the good path. Walk through the three words:

    • Righteousness: conformity to a right standard
    • Justice: applying that standard in decisions and judgments
    • Equity: fairness in how it's carried out

Ask your kids: "Where do you see a right standard, or fairness, in our home or at school?"

    3. Teach them what it means for wisdom to enter the heart (v. 10)

Wisdom enters to stay. It's not just head knowledge, it's transformative. Ask your kids: "What do you think it's like for wisdom to come into your heart?" Then take on the lie that righteous living is boring and worldly living is better. Worldly living hurts your soul. Ask: "Who can explain what a soul is?" Let them wrestle with it before you answer.

    4. Teach them how God protects them from the inside (v. 11)

    Two guards are named here:

    • Discretion: seeing the paths ahead in advance, looking forward
    • Understanding: discerning what's happening right now

God gives us internal protection from external threats. Ask your kids: "What's a situation where you'd need to see trouble coming before you're in it?"

Bonus: Dad tips from Aaron Smith (Authentic Masculinity, Defeating Pornography, and AI, Ep. 14):

    • Pray out loud with your wife. Your family needs to witness your relationship with God, or they have nothing real to model theirs after. Before seeking intimacy with your wife, grab her hand, say her name, and pray with her out loud. It's one of the most masculine things a man can do.
    • AI is already shaping desire. Algorithms learn what your flesh wants faster than you realize, even noticing a half-second pause on content and feeding you more of it. The danger isn't the tool itself, it's a tool that quietly exploits unacknowledged temptation.
    • Raise fruitful kids, not just more kids. God said "be fruitful and multiply." The crisis is too many fruitless people, kids raised without real discipleship.

This week's challenge: Humble yourself. Do the thing your wife has been asking you to do, even though it wasn't your idea. Then pick one dinner or car ride to read Proverbs 2:9-11 with your kids. It won't be perfect, and that's okay.

πŸ™ Fathers, let's lead our families to let wisdom into the heart.

Teaching Proverbs 2:6-8 to Your Family | Help Your Children Keep Their Shield Sep 22, 2026
    Show notes

Feel like you're not the leader in your home? Start with a marriage meeting. In this episode of The Resolute Man Podcast, we walk through Proverbs 2:6-8 and show you, dad, how to teach your family that God is a shield to those who walk with Him.

Here's how to teach this passage to your family:

    1. Start with the shield

Before you read, ask your kids: "What is a shield good for?" Protection. Then tell them that this passage is about the God who protects us.

    2. Teach them where wisdom comes from (v. 6)

Read verse 6 out loud together. The Lord's wisdom, knowledge, and understanding come from His mouth, and we have it in the Bible. Ask your kids: "Where do we go when we need wisdom?"

    3. Teach them that God's wisdom never runs out (v. 7)

God stores up sound wisdom for the upright, and there's plenty available. It doesn't run out, and He's there for you wherever you go. Then make sure your kids hear this: upright doesn't mean perfect. It means a life on a godly path. Ask them: "What does it look like to walk in integrity at school, with friends, or when no one's watching?"

    4. Teach them that God watches over them (v. 8)

Those who seek to do good have a guarded path, and God is watching over them. Ask your kids: "Why does it matter that God is watching over us?" Help them see that keeping their shield means staying on His path.

Bonus: Dad tips from Chris Widener (Authorship, Escaping Destruction, Navigating Business, Vital Advice for Men):

    • Rejecting passivity has real consequences, so do it anyway. Doing the right thing costs you short-term risk, but it preserves your integrity and reputation in the long run.
    • Ask "Who is your source?" It's a way to reframe the fear of loss.
    • Real confidence is faith-based. Confidence comes from con (with) and fide (faith), literally "with faith." For a Christian man, that faith comes from Scripture: "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

This week's challenge: Hold a marriage meeting this week. Get on the same page with your wife, then pick one dinner or car ride to read Proverbs 2:6-8 with your kids. It won't be perfect, and that's okay.

πŸ™ Fathers, let's lead our families to walk with the God who shields them.

Teaching Proverbs 2:1-5 to Your Family | Do Your Children Fear the Lord? Sep 21, 2026
    Show notes

Afraid of getting it wrong when you teach your kids Scripture? Don't let perfectionism hurt your legacy. In this episode of The Resolute Man Podcast, we walk through Proverbs 2:1-5 and show you, dad, how to teach it to your family this week.

Here's how to teach this passage to your family:

    1. Teach them to receive, not just hear (v. 1)

Read verse 1 out loud together. Then explain that the Hebrew word for "receive" is laqach, which means to take hold of something and grasp it as your own. Hearing isn't listening. Listening is receiving. Ask your kids: "What's the difference between hearing me and receiving what I said?"

    2. Teach them to turn their ear and heart toward wisdom (v. 2)

Ask your kids: "Have you ever listened to something and couldn't remember it right after?" Then talk about the deliberate shift of attention. Your kids know when Mom's voice or Dad's voice means "stop and tune in." That's the kind of attentiveness God wants toward His wisdom. Lazy minds hear the world easily and miss the Word completely.

    3. Teach them that wisdom is worth crying out for (v. 3)

Ask: "Have you ever raised your voice when something was super important to you?" Show them that we don't pursue wisdom casually. We call out for it.

    4. Teach them to dig for it like treasure (v. 4)

Try this illustration: "If you knew there was gold hidden in our backyard, would you go look for it?" Of course they would. Then point to the Bible. Wisdom is worth far more than gold, so are we searching for it that hard?

    5. Teach them the why (v. 5)

When you seek wisdom like treasure, you understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. Help your kids see that fear of opinions, failure, and danger comes naturally, but the fear of the Lord has to be pursued on purpose.

Bonus: Go heart deep with your kids (from Ep. 13)

    • Surface-level talk isn't real connection. "How's your walk with God?" "Good, dad."
    • Ask three questions deep: "What makes it good?" then "What questions do you have about God?"
    • Listen well. Build a relationship where your kids feel safe bringing you doubts, sins, and struggles without fear of being cut off or corrected mid-sentence.
    • This decides who wins out in the teen years: you or their peers.

This week's challenge: Pick one dinner or one car ride, read Proverbs 2:1-5, and walk through these five steps with your family. It won't be perfect, and that's okay.

πŸ™ Fathers, let's lead our families to know and fear the Lord.

The Two Paths, Choose Wisdom Proverbs 1:32-33 Sep 17, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode, Isaac helps fathers teach Proverbs 1:32-33 to their families. He walks dads through the danger of staying simple, since simplicity that isn't outgrown tends to turn people away from God over time, and the destructive nature of complacency, a way of fools. He then contrasts that with the promise for those who listen to wisdom: they dwell secure, at ease, without dread of disaster. Use this episode as a launching point to ask your kids how we actually listen to God, what gets in the way of hearing from Him, and to share a time complacency has hurt you or your family.

Isaac also shares a Resolute Men Tip from Episode 12, 5 Growing Attacks We Must Respond To, unpacking the mindset behind a push for global socialism, digital currency, and depopulation, and why chaos is used deliberately to reshape society and gain control. Walking through Ephesians 2, he shows the real spiritual battle behind it all, then lays out five growing attacks to respond to: confusing the next generation, disrupting the food supply, engineering economic devastation, degrading morality to destroy the nuclear family, and counting on our passivity. He shares a survey finding from the ministry that men not leading their homes is the number one issue facing marriages today, and speaks honestly about decisions his own family has made, including turning down significant income and relocating, to stand firm rather than stay passive. He closes with a charge to walk in wisdom, not fear: decide your hard lines ahead of time, make proactive decisions while you still can, and don't let your family become the slowly cooked frog, gradually accepting what God's word calls sin.

Wisdom Ignored, Could be Wisdom Lost Proverbs 1:24-31 Sep 16, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode, Isaac helps fathers teach Proverbs 1:24-31 to their families. He walks dads through God's warning to those who ignore His call, refuse His outstretched hand, and reject correction, and the sobering consequence that follows: when calamity strikes, those who despised wisdom will call out but not be answered, because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord. Use this episode as a launching point to talk with your kids about learning from correction now, before harder consequences force the lesson later, and ask them to share a time they learned from a mistake.

Isaac also shares a Resolute Men Tip from Episode 11, Master the Art of Marriage Communication, challenging men to bring the same intensity to their marriage that they'd bring to fixing a broken business, since a marriage is always either getting better or worse, never staying the same. As the God-authorized leader of the home, the responsibility to lead change starts with you. He teaches on the worn rhythms of communication, behavior, and nonverbals that build up over years, and offers a "positive disruption," one intentional change in how you respond or show up, committed to for seven days, as a way to shift those rhythms. He closes by reminding dads that their children are watching their marriage, and asks whether what they see makes them want that kind of marriage someday.

The 3 Kinds of People Wisdom is Hidden From: Proverbs 1:22-23 Sep 15, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode, Isaac helps fathers teach Proverbs 1:22-23 to their families. He walks dads through the three types of people wisdom is hidden from: the simple, who lack discernment but can grow out of it with guidance; the scoffer, who mocks correction and can turn children against their parents; and the fool, who willfully resists wisdom out of self-confidence. He then unpacks the promise in verse 23, that when we turn at God's reproof, He pours out His Spirit and makes His words known to us. Use this episode as a launching point to pray with your family and tell God together that you love Him and want to learn from Him.

Isaac also shares a Resolute Men Tip from Episode 10, 5 Growing Attacks We Must Respond To, breaking down five growing attacks on the family we need to respond to with wisdom rather than fear: efforts to confuse the next generation, control over the food supply, engineered economic devastation, moral degradation aimed at the nuclear family through things like pornography, and the expectation that we'll stay passive. He closes with a simple framework: don't walk in fear, think through your hard lines ahead of time, make proactive decisions before you're forced into reactive ones, and don't let your family become the slowly cooked frog, gradually numb to what's being normalized around you.

The Foolish Will Turn On You: Proverbs 1:17-19 Sep 10, 2026
    Show notes

Dad, does your child understand that hidden sin doesn't just hurt them, it can destroy everyone around them? In this episode Isaac breaks down Proverbs 1:17-19 and gives fathers a way to teach their kids why secret sin is more dangerous than it looks.

Isaac starts with the picture in verse 17, a bird that won't fly into a net it can see, and contrasts that with the fools in verse 18 who unknowingly set an ambush for their own lives. He explains how foolishness clouds people's ability to see clearly, so much that they end up less perceptive than a bird, and walks through what's actually missing in that picture: a relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. This gives dads a clear way to help their kids understand that sin doesn't just fail to satisfy, it actively blinds and harms the person chasing it.

Isaac also unpacks verse 19's warning about greed, "such are the ways of everyone who is greedy for unjust gain; it takes away the life of its possessors." He shows how greed destroys people from the inside out, while generosity brings real freedom, giving fathers a simple, practical question to ask their kids: how does it feel to give someone something that helps them?

He closes by pointing back to Courageous Parenting Episode 8 on preparing your family for the AI era: why critical thinking has to be deliberately taught rather than assumed, why deep trust in God and Scripture is the real safeguard against cultural drift, and a four-part framework, Learn, Think, Discern, Teach, for helping kids engage contested issues with a biblical foundation.

What is Peer Pressure: Proverbs 1:10-14 Sep 08, 2026
    Show notes

Dad, are your children equipped to stand strong against peer pressure? In this episode Isaac digs into Proverbs 1:10-14 and shows fathers how to teach their kids what it looks like when sinners entice, and why refusing to consent to that pull is one of the most important lessons we can pass on to them.

Solomon paints a vivid picture here: enticers inviting a young man to ambush the innocent, to swallow up others "like Sheol," a direct echo of Numbers 16:32 and the rebellion of Korah against Moses and Aaron, ultimately against God himself. Isaac talks about how this same pattern shows up in smaller, everyday forms of disobedience in our kids, and gives dads a way to help their children see how those small compromises, left unchecked, form bad character over time. Who your child spends time with will shape them, and that's a conversation worth having early and often.

Isaac also digs into verses 13 and 14, where entitlement dresses itself up as friendship: "we shall fill our houses with plunder... we will all have one purse." That's the lie that other people's things are ours for the taking, versus the truth that hard work and trust in God's provision build real character. Use this passage to talk with your kids about how they treat things they've worked for versus things given to them for free, and about loving people rather than using them for personal gain.

He closes with a reminder fathers can pass on to their children, that when peer pressure hits, they don't have to face it alone. He also points back to Episode 6 on implementing your family culture: consistent communication, getting your wife aligned as a team, launching your family's culture statement deliberately, and living out what you want your kids to become, since real change is a flywheel, not a light switch.
