Jennifer Yakub and host Laura James worked together in Toronto before 2020, and bonded quickly over something that can’t really be taught…a shared empathy for people and a deep passion for Emergency Social Services.
Because at the end of the day, emergency management isn’t just plans, policy, or operations. It’s people. It’s showing up for communities on their hardest days.
Jennifer’s career reflects exactly that, and her path through emergency management has consistently centered around community, leadership, humanitarian support, and helping people navigate difficult moments with dignity and compassion.

Today’s conversation is a little bit different and really important.
At the recent National Hurricane Conference, I had so many conversations with women who said, “I’m not a traditional emergency manager.” The truth is…if your work supports preparedness, response, coordination, systems, or people…you are part of this space. This is emergency management adjacent, and it matters.
We wanted to highlight Anastasia not only for her incredible career, but also as part of our team at Buffalo Computer Graphics. Supporting emergency management and the work that all of you do is just as critical as being on the front lines.
Anastasia is the Director of Contracts and Compliance at Buffalo Computer Graphics. Her career spans customer support, HR and training, nonprofit leadership, cyber-security, and operations…building a foundation rooted in communication, trust, and accountability.
Her path isn’t linear, and that’s exactly what makes it powerful. She’s built her career by showing up, adapting, and leading in spaces where people and process intersect every day.
