166 - History According to Maiden Part 2 Dec 23, 2012

Show notes

We've talked about Maiden in the past, but since one half of the Requiem cast is a history teacher by day, we figured why not do a Maiden show based around historical themes? This gave us a chance to play songs that we normally wouldn't and approach the show from a perspective of something Jason knows better than many of us... History! You may just learn something on part two. Show notes

This episode we change gears completely from our usual fare and focus on Alice in Chains, a band tied to thrash by it's opening support on the 1991 leg of the Clash of the Titans tour and going on to surpass all those bands in sales barely a year later. 163 Dissection - Reinkaos Aug 21, 2012

Show notes

After two acclaimed records, Dissection frontman Jon Nödtveidt got involved in the Misanthropic Luciferian Order which led to him being an accomplice to murder and spent the next 7 years in prison. The buzz around the rebirth of Dissection was huge and expectations were high, but the release of their final album, Reinkaos was met with less than enthusiastic responses. We discuss this final chapter in the history of Dissection this episode and try to shed some light on this under appreciated record. 162 Dawn - Slaughtersun Jul 28, 2012

Show notes

In the next few episodes we're going to be spotlighting records that we feel are underrated or widely unknown. This installment is Sweden's Dawn. A band that were unfortunately lumped into the glut of the late 90s symphonic black metal and hyperspeed melodic death metal. Dawn, however stand above the rest in content and delivery. Bask in the Slaughtersun. 159 In Flames Part 1 May 11, 2012

Show notes

Say what you will about the current incarnation of In Flames, but once upon a time they were leaders in the Gothenburg scene along with At The Gates and Dark Tranquility. They might have strayed a little along the way, but their early discography holds some gems that warrant discussion. For this episode we're joined by Monica Jackomino (ten years our junior) to discuss the early years of In Flames with two generations of metalheads. 158 High on Fire May 03, 2012

Show notes

From the ashes of Sleep, guitar maverick Matt Pike along with Des Kensel has carved an unmistakeable sonic identity of equal parts Mötorhead, Sabbath, 70s rock and fantasy themes ala Cirith Ungol and Dio with a propulsive rhythm section that is second to none. This episode we take a brief tour through the career of one of extreme music's most unlikely "success stories", High on Fire.
