President Trump has made clear that his Administration will continue to combat the threat of MS-13 in order to protect communities from the horrendous violence the gang has spread.
In 2017, the Department of Justice worked with partners in Central America to file criminal charges against more than 4,000 members of MS-13.
The Trump Administration has cracked down on the import and distribution of illegal drugs in order to stop them from reaching our communities and causing even more devastation.
As of April 2018, U.S. Border Patrol has seized 284 pounds of fentanyl in FY 2018, already surpassing the total of 181 pounds seized in FY 2017.
The President has launched a nationwide effort to fight the opioid crisis, which has devastated communities across America.
The President’s Opioid Initiative seeks to reduce drug demand, cut off the flow of illicit drugs, and save lives by expanding treatment opportunities.
President Trump signed an omnibus spending bill which provides nearly $4 billion to address the opioid epidemic.
The bill included $1 billion for grants focused on the hardest hit States and Tribes and provided funding for a public-private research partnership on pain and addiction.

America’s growing number of school shootings has been good for the bottom line of a company that makes bulletproof backpacks.
The Israeli company Masada Armour, which designs military-grade vests, helmets and uniforms, developed a bulletproof backpack that costs about $493.
The company is reportedly scaling up production to keep up with demand from parents in the U.S. who are worried about their children’s safety as the new school year begins.
“In two months we have sold hundreds and are gearing up to increase production rates to 500 units per month,” chief executive Snir Koren told the AFP news agency.
According to the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, which compiles data on lives lost globally each year, the U.S. had 3.85 gun deaths per 100,000 people in 2016, the 31st highest rate in the world; in the U.K., that figure was 0.07, in Japan, it was 0.04, and in Germany it was 0.12.

Outrageous: Some colleges have banned posters of 9/11 because they show Radical Islamists
perpetrating terrorism and they don’t want to hurt Muslims’ feelings!? This is unbelievable, but
true. The Radical Islamists should have thought about not hurting Muslims’ feelings before they
flew planes into the World Trade Center.
Ripon College, in Wisconsin, for example, has allowed their ‘college bias team’ to rule that 9/11
‘Never Forget’ posters are “inflammatory and unacceptable.” School officials told members of
Young America’s Foundation that the posters focus “relentlessly on one religious organization…
associating that one religious identity with terrorist attacks,” creating an environment in which
“students from a Muslim background would feel singled out” or “harassed.” This is not the first
time that colleges have reacted negatively to students wanting to honor the victims of 9/11.
A professor at Saddleback College, in 2016, tore down the posters and ripped them up.
Not only is this disrespectful to the victims of 9/11 and their families, but it also perpetuates a
culture of denial - teaching students that the threat of terrorism no longer exists. Just this past
week, it was reported that a U.S. drone strike may have killed Ibrahim Hasan al-Asiri, al-Qaeda’s
chief bomb maker. Yet, even if these reports are true, there are still countless bomb makers that
Asiri has taught over the years, who will carry on his legacy. So, we must ’Never Forget’ that
the terrorism threat is not dead.

The state Bureau of Cannabis Control, which oversees the market, has said the proposed rule is merely clarifying what has always been the case: A licensed pot delivery can be made to "any jurisdiction within the state."
A proposal in the Legislature intended to clarify that a licensed business can deliver cannabis anywhere in California stalled in the Senate. Meanwhile, online directories like Weedmaps advertise delivery services — some legal, some not.
In general, California treats pot like alcohol, allowing people 21 and older to legally possess up to 1 ounce of the drug and grow six plants at home.
California's legal market has gotten off to a bumpy start. Illicit sales are still thriving, a shaky supply chain has customers looking at barren shelves in some shops and there have been complaints about testing and hefty taxes.
In fact, an increasing percentage of high school kids — at least 26 percent of seniors in 2014, up from 5 percent in 1976 — are abstaining from all substances, including alcohol, marijuana and tobacco, according to an historical analysis of the survey data published in July.
Even so, addiction practitioners say they’re seeing a surge in the number of young patients who are hooked on Xanax. Many take high daily doses of the drug, sometimes in deadly combination with opioids and alcohol.
Addiction treatment centers are “the tip of the spear,” said Sharon Levy, director of adolescent addiction treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital and lead author of the adolescent drug use study. “We see things first. So, I’m not surprised that the spike in Xanax use isn’t reflected in national data yet.”
But no medicines exist to blunt the withdrawal symptoms and cravings associated with benzodiazepine addiction. Instead, patients typically enter residential treatment where a specialist gradually tapers them off the medication. If stopped too quickly, benzodiazepine withdrawal can result in seizures and even death.
