Welcome heathens welcome to the world of the weird and unexplained. I’m your host, Nicole Delacroix and together, we will be investigating stories about the weird, wonderful, unexplained, eerie, scary and down-right unbelievable. And on today’s Dark enigma I’m sad to announce that we have come to the end of our Witchtober festivities, so we’ll be moving back into our regular programming for the rest of the year. But, of course, we save the best for last. That’s right my lovelies, we’re finally going to be covering the Salem witch trials. So settle in and get ready to shine a light on this dark time in American History. As always, we will be playing our drinking game and as you know, the drinking game is only for those of us that are at home and have nowhere else to go tonight. I will leave the choice of witchy brew up to you, so choose your poison accordingly… Alright, now for the game part how about every time I say Salem that will be a single shot and every time I say Devil, that’s a double shot. So if you were sleeping through history class or never saw the Crucible performed, well you’re going to be front row for the Salem witch trials. Ok, now that the business end is out of the way we can jump headfirst into today’s dark enigma… and the Mass Hysteria and scape goating leading to the Salem Witch Trials let’s jump right on in my heathens…
Several centuries ago, many practicing Christians, and those of other religions, had a strong belief that the Devil could give certain people known as witches the power to harm others in return for their loyalty. A "witchcraft craze" rippled through Europe from the 1300s to the end of the 1600s. Tens of thousands of supposed witches—mostly women—were executed. Though the Salem trials came on just as the European craze was winding down, local circumstances explain their onset.
In 1689, English rulers William and Mary started a war with France in the American colonies; known as King William's War to colonists, it ravaged regions of upstate New York, Nova Scotia and Quebec, sending refugees into the county of Essex and, specifically, Salem Village in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. (Salem Village is present-day Danvers, Massachusetts; colonial Salem Town became what's now Salem.)

While the media sanitized 9/11 even more this year, and senators told
Homeland Security that climate change was the biggest threat,
Al Qaeda was calling on terrorists to attack us! Ayman al-Zawahiri,
who took over the reins of Al Qaeda after Osama bin Laden was killed,
chose the anniversary of their attack to call on Muslims to attack U.S.,
European, Israeli and Russian targets in a rousing speech released on
video.
Each year, our ’Terrorism Denial’ pushes events commemorating the
anniversary of September 11th further underground. This year, the
New York Times pushed the envelope even further, sanitizing the day
by writing that “airplanes” brought down the World Trade Center, not
Radical Islamists or Jihadists. Hear why 'Terrorism Denial' and
diminishing the significance of 9/11 is bad for your mental and physical
health and the security of America.
An especially sad sign of the increasing efforts to forget 9/11 is the fact
that no TV outlets covered the entire reading of the names of those who
perished, at the Ground Zero ceremony, as they did in the past. This
was especially unfortunate since most people missed a highlight:
Nicholas Haros, Jr., who lost his mother in the WTC attack, while he
was reading names, took the opportunity to chastise Ilhan Omar by
recounting, “who did what to whom….!"
