    Remnant Church

For better or for worse, what you believe shapes your life. The more your beliefs line up with reality—the way things really are—the more you find fulfillment, purpose, and joy in the world. Our church believes the only truth that brings lasting fulfillment, clear purpose, and true joy is this: God made all people to glorify him and enjoy him forever. God made us for himself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in him.

"The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Emmanuel (which means, 'God with us')." "And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Thus the book of Matthew ends as it began: with Jesus and the promise of God with us. For Jesus is the son of the promise and the risen Lord who is with his people always. He is God with us to save the hopeless, God with us to heal the broken, God with us to bring his kingdom, and God with us to right all wrongs.

He was Lord of all and yet a servant, come to set his people free. From our many sins he saved us, born a child and yet a king. Jesus is God with us.

Jesus Will Come Dec 15, 2013

After facing years of persecution and devastation, God's people were finally back in the land he had given them. Yet their hope seemed as broken as the city walls. The temple was a shadow of its former glory. There was no king on David's throne. So the people grew afraid. Many turned their backs on God. They began to wonder: Will the Lord keep his promises? Will he bring justice to the world? Will he return to his people?

The book of Malachi gives the answer: God is coming. Remember his love and faithfulness. Give up your idols and turn back to him. For those who stand against him, his coming will be a raging fire. But for those who trust in him, his coming will be like the dawning of the sun, full of light and hope and healing for the nations.

Over four hundred years later, the prophecy of Malachi was fulfilled in Jesus. He was Emmanuel, God with us. As we enter the Advent season, we share in the longing of all God's people-not for the arrival of the Messiah, but for his glorious return. God is coming. His name is Jesus.

When God created the universe he didn't make a giant grey lump. He stretched out the heavens like a canvas, filling them with objects of various colors and shapes and sizes. He established the laws of nature and the order of the world. He created life where there was no life, giving his creatures the capacity to bring forth new generations as diverse as every life form on the planet. And he did all of this on purpose-diversity by design. God established differences in his creation so that all things might complemenet each other as they live in accordance with his wise plan.

But mankind's rebellion against God brought disorder into the world. Instead of diversity in harmony, we live in alienation and prejudice. Instead of finding beauty in our complementary natures, we push for sameness. Instead of right and wrong, we talk of customs and opinions. This has not led to greater freedom and happiness, but to confusion and despair. Only Jesus leads us to see the beauty of God's diverse creation and our place in it, so that he is glorified, we are satisfied, and the world is renewed.
