    Remnant Church

For better or for worse, what you believe shapes your life. The more your beliefs line up with reality—the way things really are—the more you find fulfillment, purpose, and joy in the world. Our church believes the only truth that brings lasting fulfillment, clear purpose, and true joy is this: God made all people to glorify him and enjoy him forever. God made us for himself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in him.

"The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him Emmanuel (which means, 'God with us')." "And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Thus the book of Matthew ends as it began: with Jesus and the promise of God with us. For Jesus is the son of the promise and the risen Lord who is with his people always. He is God with us to save the hopeless, God with us to heal the broken, God with us to bring his kingdom, and God with us to right all wrongs.

He was Lord of all and yet a servant, come to set his people free. From our many sins he saved us, born a child and yet a king. Jesus is God with us.

    A World Without Hope Dec 21, 2014
    Show notes

For centuries God prepared his people for the coming of his Son, Jesus, the promised Messiah and Lord of all creation. His birth marked the dawn of redeeming grace and a turning point in the history of the world. Centuries later his coming is still celebrated during Advent and Christmas, the season for remembering that Jesus is the foundation for everything.

Because if we took Jesus out of the world, what would we have left? A world a where our selfishness is excused and even celebrated, a world where our sorrows are numbed but never cured, a world where chaos and confusion are the order of the day, a world where the fate of everyone would only be death and meaninglessness. That's the world without Jesus.

But the world with Jesus is radically different: his life gives joy, his rule brings peace, his death defines love, and his resurrection sustains hope. Love, joy, peace, and hope—they are Jesus' gifts to the world, and he gives them freely to all who come to him.

    Make a Decision Nov 23, 2014

The life of Jesus pushes us off the fenceposts of doubt and indecision, calling us to make up our minds about him. For even the refusal to decide actually is a decision when it comes to him: "Whoever is not with me is against me," he warns (Luke 11:23).

That is why Jesus says, "Seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7). And he says, "The truth will set you free" (John 8:32), since he knows where the truth is found: "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).

The choice is clear: "How long will you waver, limping between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him!" (1 Kings 18:21). This is the inescapable decision that Jesus puts before us all. "Choose this day whom you will serve" (Joshua 24:15), for "No one can serve two masters" (Matthew 6:24). Jesus says to us even now, "Come, follow me."

    Life: Death Nov 09, 2014

We're born. We live for a brief instant. And then we die" - Steve Jobs

"Life is absurd." - Albert Camus

"Life is beautiful." - Roberto Benigni

"Life is like a box of chocolates..." - Forrest Gump

Life-no word seems so meaningful yet so misunderstood. What's the point? Do our lives have meaning? How can we know" Who can make sense of it all?

Rising above the sound and the fury, the words of jesus greet our ears like the echo of a tune we have not heard, like news from a country we have never visited: "I am the way, the truth, and the life." "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Jesus says this as the author of all truth and our only real hope. For Jesus not only makes sense of our lives, he himself is the source of all life. And he gives life freely to those who look to him.
