127 - When Christians Eat Their Own Aug 19, 2022

Show notes

It has been said that Christians shoot their wounded and sometimes eat their own. Paul said in Galatians 5, "13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another."

In this episode we review a sermon by Gavin Flatt where he attacks C.T. Townsend and the Arise Conference, along with everyone who preached there and pastors who sent their youth groups there. This sermon is a rant against another Christian and it is dishonoring to Scripture and the bride of Christ.

The Sabattical continues for one final week. This episode is hosted by Ryan and David with the Youth and Culture Podcast and they are interviewing John Cooper, the lead vocalist, bassist and songwriter/producer for Skillet, one of the best-selling Christian rock bands of the 21st century. The two-time GRAMMY Award-nominated 12x platinum band was recently invited into Pandora’s Billionaire club after garnering 2 billion streams, received a pair of GRAMMY Award nods, sold over 12 million albums worldwide, taken home a Billboard Music Award and more. Their breakout single “Monster” remains “one of the most-streamed rock songs of all-time” with 285 million global audio streams. Between selling out arenas on four continents, Cooper has found time to launch his own podcast, COOPER STUFF PODCAST, a beard care line with Hawk & Hatchett, available at Macys.com and partnered with Z2 COMICS to create Skillet’s first Graphic Novel, EDEN, out now. Their tenth full-length project, Victorious released via Atlantic Records on August 2nd.

You gotta admit... that's pretty cool!

125 - The Heart of the Matter - 4 Freedom and Young Baptist Mashup with Jon Hollifield, James Safrit, Clay Maynard, and Josh Johnson Aug 05, 2022

Show notes

Jon Hollifield and James Safrit of the 4 Freedom Podcast join up in today's episode with Clay Maynard and Josh Johnson of The Young Baptist Podcast to get to The Heart of the Matter... literally... that's the topic of their discussion. Legalism is sometimes relegated to the realm of minor exterior issues, but the truth of the matter is that legalism starts in the heart. It is the heart of man that desires to accomplish his own salvation, add to the Holy Scriptures, and to burden the people of God with rules that God never intended to be invented or enforced. Grace is the heart of the Gospel and legalism is an attack against God's provision for our sin in Christ.

If we can not trust Scripture, we have nothing! We are proud to partner with Explore Christianity to give a reasoned defense of our faith. Stephen Boyce, Jonathan Sheffield, and Santi Rangel did an excellent job answering the claims of those who have outright rejected the Deity of Christ, Doctrine of the Trinity, and the Inspiration of Scripture.
