    Show notes

Why do intelligent people fall for science denial, pseudoscience, or conspiracy theories? In today’s talk, Melanie Trecek-King explores how cognitive biases, social influences, and deeply held beliefs can trap us in misinformation. Drawing on her own experience, she explains why facts alone often fail to change minds, and how curiosity, skepticism, and empathy can help us navigate today’s complex information landscape — and connect with those who disagree with us.

Interfaith Family: Marriage and Parenting with Mutual Respect, featuring Steve Ghikadis Jun 30, 2025
    Show notes

Falling in love with the right person is easy, what comes next may not be. For anyone who has ever wondered how relationships can work between the faithful and faithless, join us this week on RfRx for a peek behind the curtain. Steve Ghikadis, a secular humanist, has been married to Cindy, a Christian, for almost a decade and, like most couples, they agree on all the big things. Just not the little things...like the beginning of the universe. Their two young boys have the benefit of experiencing two completely different worldviews, and are never pressured to lean in any particular direction. If you're curious to see how their family is able to pull it off and manage to see through their differences then you won't want to miss this discussion.

Mythicism 101, featuring John Gleason Jun 25, 2025
    Show notes

This week on RfRx, we discuss Mythicism, an often misunderstood position with John Gleason, The Godless Engineer. This talk will dive into an alternative explanation for Christian origins that do not involve a Jesus as a real historical figure. Minimal Mythicism takes on the burden of proof to not only provide this alternative explanation and evidence supporting it but also to explain existing evidence surrounding Christian history. Many Christians and atheists alike have questions regarding the origins of Christianity and about Jesus. For example, why does the Bible say Jesus was from two different places? Why isn't there physical evidence for Jesus, and should there be?

Be You: Liberating Your Authentic Self with Ember Jun 23, 2025
    Show notes

This week on RfRx, we’ll have a conversation with Ember about how secular communities and transgender communities can support one another, unshackled from the limitations of theology. There is a lot of crossover between secular folk and the transgender community, and it isn't hard to see why. Folks in both groups generally just want to live their lives, and often share the same antagonist for doing so. Today we'll explore what we have in common and what we can learn from each other, from science, humanism, and skepticism, to inspiration and creativity. Bring your questions for Ember and join us for a journey toward liberating your authentic self.
