Show notes
The NBA playoffs are creating big questions across the league, and this episode of RealGM Radio starts with a fast-moving five-pack of NBA observations.
First, Wes Goldberg breaks down the Cavaliers’ massive 23-0 run against the Pistons, Donovan Mitchell’s takeover, and the adjustments Detroit must make to keep the series alive. Was this the version of Mitchell Cleveland has been waiting for, and did the Pistons miss their best chance to steal control of the series?
Then, after another close Lakers loss and the Thunder advancing to the Western Conference Finals, Wes looks at LeBron James’ uncertain future. LeBron said he doesn’t know what comes next, but his postgame comments about being a third option and still chasing championships raise a bigger question: could he eventually look for a different role somewhere else?
Wes also reacts to the NBA Draft Lottery, including big wins for the Bulls and Grizzlies, a mock draft scenario involving Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, Cam Boozer, Darius Acuff Jr. and Caleb Wilson, plus what Victor Wembanyama’s elbow moment says about his mindset.
And with reporting that the Milwaukee Bucks are seeking trade offers for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Wes explains what the Bucks should prioritize if they move their franchise superstar — and why a full teardown might not be the right path.
Then, Dieter Kurtenbach of the Bay Area News Group joins RealGM Radio to discuss the mood around the Golden State Warriors, why Steph Curry may age better than Kevin Durant, the NBA Draft Lottery, changes in NBA media coverage, the rise of betting and analysis on broadcasts, streaming, regional sports networks, and whether the Oklahoma City Thunder’s rise has actually been good for the NBA.
