    Ephesians 5:22-33
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.[a] 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

This episode is personal and practical. We take a closer look at the concept of Self-care. We even talk about the stigma that comes with mental health and counseling...even in the Church.

    Depression Doesn't Discriminate pt 2. May 28, 2020
    Show notes

Depression Doesn't Discriminate pt 2. Mental health is important because you have been created in the image of a God that loves you and cares deeply about you and every area of your life—including your mind, feelings, and emotions. Tune in as I talk about depression from a personal, academic, and spiritual point of view. Even though the Bible doesn’t use the word “depression” you can use context clues to come to conclusions about some Biblical characters possibly being depressed such as Joseph, Job, and David. Listen to find out why. Disclaimer: I speak as a fellow struggler sharing my story and NOT as a mental health expert providing advice.

    Top Quotes

    • "Depression is the common cold of life"
    • Jesus doesn’t promise us a perfect life without struggle but He does promise to perfectly love and care for us in the midst of your struggles.
    • If what you are going through isn’t good that mean God isn’t finished

    Encouraging Scriptures

    • Deut 31:8 “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.
    • Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    • John 16:33 “These things have I spoken unto you, that you might have peace, in the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
